Corton Grand Cru “Le Rognet” 2005 – Méo-Camuzet
A benchmark vintage for finesse and structure
The 2005 vintage of Corton “Le Rognet” offers one of the most balanced and age-worthy expressions of this Grand Cru. Méo-Camuzet captures the precision of a superb growing season in a Pinot Noir that is both structured and vibrant, marrying ripe fruit with minerality and depth.
In the vineyard: textbook conditions and balanced ripeness
2005 was a nearly ideal vintage. Warm but not excessive temperatures and even ripening allowed grapes in the Le Rognet vineyard—at 280 to 330 meters elevation on chalky soils—to reach perfect phenolic maturity while maintaining acidity and elegance. Low yields and meticulous hand-harvesting ensured exceptional quality.
In the cellar: respect for purity and terroir
Vinification relied on indigenous yeasts, with a gentle maceration to preserve finesse. The wine aged for 17–18 months in French oak, about 50% new barrels, adding spice and texture without masking the fruit. The result is a wine of remarkable clarity, complexity and longevity.
Tasting notes

Domaine Méo-Camuzet
The soul of Vosne-Romanée, between tradition and precision
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of the most iconic and refined estates in Burgundy. The domaine’s history is deeply linked to the Camuzet family and the legacy of Henri Jayer, a legendary figure in modern winemaking. Today, under the direction of Jean-Nicolas Méo, the estate combines Burgundian heritage with contemporary precision, always rooted in the vineyard.
Vineyard philosophy: balance and respect
The domaine covers about 17 hectares, including prestigious plots such as Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux, Corton, and numerous Premier Cru and Village vineyards across Vosne, Nuits, and Marsannay. The viticulture is sustainable, with no formal certifications but a strong pragmatic and non-intrusive approach.
Vineyard work is gentle and adapted to each plot: light soil tilling, manual harvesting with strict selection, and minimal use of synthetic treatments. The focus is not on the aesthetics of organics but on true terroir expression.
Winemaking: elegance without compromise
The cellar at Méo-Camuzet is discreet, designed to enhance purity and structure. Fermentations are spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts, and macerations are gentle, respecting the fruit’s integrity.
New oak use is balanced, from 30% to 80% depending on the cuvée, and chosen for finesse and integration. No fining or filtration is applied. The wines are aged on fine lees for 15 to 20 months, gaining depth and definition over time.
Méo-Camuzet wines are refined, tactile, and age-worthy. They don’t chase power, but rather precision, aromatic finesse, and mineral tension, offering some of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Burgundy.
