The 2021 vintage, with balanced temperatures and careful harvest, produced healthy and aromatic grapes, resulting in a wine harmonious, versatile, and immediately enjoyable, yet with good aging potential.
History
Sylvaner is a historic German grape, particularly rooted in Rheinhessen. Since 1789, the Keller family has carefully cultivated Westhofen vineyards, selecting the best clones and soils to maximize aromatic potential. The 2021 harvest produced balanced clusters with perfect acidity and aromatic maturity, creating a Sylvaner that is clean, mineral, and highly elegant, true to Keller’s style.
Vineyard Philosophy
Vineyard management is handcrafted and sustainable, with targeted interventions and manual harvesting of the best grapes. The calcareous soils provide sapidity, tension, and elegant minerality, while the vineyard exposure ensures uniform ripening. The 2021 vintage favored a natural balance between freshness and aroma, resulting in a wine light yet structured, elegant and vibrant.
Winemaking Approach
In the cellar, Keller applies natural, fruit-driven winemaking techniques, with spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts. Steel aging preserves freshness, aromatic delicacy, and minerality. Minimal sulphur use ensures authenticity and faithful expression of the terroir.
