Sylvaner Feuervogel 2020 Keller
Overview
The Sylvaner Feuervogel 2020 Keller is an outstanding dry white from Rheinhessen, elegant and vertical, sourced from carefully selected vineyards by the Keller family. The name “Feuervogel” reflects the wine’s vitality and structure, combining freshness, minerality, and complex aromas of white fruit and delicate flowers. The 2020 vintage, marked by a balanced summer, produced perfectly ripe grapes, resulting in a wine harmonious, structured, and very elegant, enjoyable now but with great aging potential.
History
Sylvaner is a historic German grape, and Keller has selected specific vineyards to express its unique character. The Feuervogel project was created to highlight the finest expression of Sylvaner, focusing on terroir, exposure, and soil management. The 2020 harvest produced balanced clusters, with fresh acidity and intense aromatic maturity, resulting in a Sylvaner full-bodied, mineral, and refined, true to Keller’s style.
Vineyard Philosophy
The vineyard is managed artisanal and sustainably, with hand harvesting and rigorous grape selection. Calcareous soils provide tension, sapidity, and elegant minerality, while optimal exposure ensures even ripening and healthy grapes. The 2020 vintage favored perfect balance between freshness and aromatic complexity, producing a Sylvaner that is elegant, vertical, and vibrant.
Winemaking Approach
In the cellar, Keller follows natural, fruit-driven winemaking techniques, with spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts. Aging in stainless steel and neutral wood preserves freshness, aromatic purity, and minerality. Minimal sulphur use ensures authenticity, faithfully reflecting the Feuervogel vineyard terroir.

Klaus Keller spent decades meticulously selecting vineyards and enhancing the terroir, drawing inspiration from Burgundian traditions to craft wines of remarkable longevity, complexity, and vibrancy.
