Les Poutures 2021 – Domaine Lejeune
A Premier Cru from the Heart of Pommard
Les Poutures is one of the most elegant and distinctive climats of Pommard, in the prestigious Côte de Beaune. In the 2021 vintage, Domaine Lejeune has faithfully and skilfully interpreted this terroir, producing a Pinot Noir that captures the depth and energy of a Premier Cru. Its privileged location and biodynamic approach deliver pure fruit, silky tannins, and a captivating persistence.
Mature Vines and Outstanding Terroir
The vineyard covers 9 hectares, set on clay-limestone soils that perfectly balance structure and finesse. With an average vine age of 45 years, yields are naturally low, resulting in grapes of exceptional aromatic concentration. Farming is carried out according to organic and biodynamic principles, preserving soil vitality and biodiversity while expressing the character of the vintage.
Winemaking in the Spirit of Tradition
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, allowing for meticulous selection in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place with whole-cluster maceration, enhancing aromatic complexity and bringing freshness and verticality to the palate. Ageing is conducted in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, carefully integrating the wood without overpowering the terroir.
Sensory Profile and Ageing Potential
Les Poutures 2021 shows a bright ruby colour and aromas of ripe red fruit, violets, and fine spices. The palate is harmonious, with a silky entry, fine tannins, and a vibrant freshness that carries into a long, mineral finish. Enjoyable now for its elegance, it also offers remarkable ageing potential, evolving gracefully for over a decade.

Domaine Lejeune
History and Philosophy
Domaine Lejeune is a historic winery located in the heart of Burgundy, specifically in the village of Pommard. Founded in 1783 by the Jullien de Pommerol family, it is currently managed by Louis de Belleroche. The estate spans about 8.7 hectares and is certified organic, focusing on respecting the terroir and environmental sustainability. Their goal is to express the true character of the land through attentive vineyard practices and traditional winemaking that highlight each unique cru.
Vineyards and Terroir
The vineyards are mainly located in Pommard, with some parcels in nearby areas such as Volnay, Beaune, and Bourgogne Rouge. The vines are carefully cultivated on typical Côte de Beaune soils rich in limestone and marl. Organic vineyard management and manual harvesting ensure high-quality grapes with a strong mineral and aromatic expression, typical of the region.
Winemaking Techniques
Winemaking combines traditional methods with modern technology. Fermentations take place in oak barrels, using indigenous yeasts and careful temperature control. Aging generally lasts from 12 to 18 months, with a variable percentage of new oak depending on the wine and vintage. The approach aims to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity, producing elegant and long-lived wines.
Wine Characteristics and Style
Domaine Lejeune is renowned for its robust and structured Pinot Noirs, rich in red fruit aromas, spices, and earthy notes, faithfully reflecting the Pommard terroir. The whites, mainly Chardonnay, stand out for their elegance, freshness, and mineral complexity. The portfolio includes prestigious crus such as Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Bas and Les Argillières, as well as more accessible but consistently high-quality labels.
