Messorio is a super Tuscan Italian red wine produced by Le Macchiole in Castagneto Carducci in Bolgheri, and obtained from 100% Merlot grapes harvested manually in 15 kg boxes. The soil is heavily clayey and the yield per vine is 800 kg, the approach to viticulture is organic and sustainable. Maceration on the skins for 25 days and refinement for 18/20 months in barriques, finally resting in the bottle for a few months before being put on the market. Messorio is an explosion of evolved aromas with hints of dried flowers and red fruits in jam followed by salty and wild herbs on the nose, before turning towards woody hints and sweet spices, and memories of roots and tobacco. The mouth is fresh and elegant, powerful and tasty, round with silky tannins and a long finish. Try it with braised meat!

Le Macchiole is one of the cult companies in Bolgheri, a point of reference for the entire area. It was born at the beginning of the 80s thanks to the vision of Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli who, as pure pioneers, glimpsed then unexplored potential in Bolgheri, when this prestigious territory was far from understanding its own qualitative stylistic definition.
Bolgheri also owes its fame to Le Macchiole, to its wines of depth, caliber and personality.
What we appreciate very much about this company is on the one hand its organic and sustainable approach to viticulture, and on the other the frantic search for finesse and elegance, without forgetting the origins, authenticity and personality that has always distinguished them.
