Le Glanon Savagnin 2023 – Fruitière Vinicole Pupillin
Origin and Terroir
Le Glanon Savagnin 2023 comes from 25-year-old vines rooted in marl soils with South/South-West exposure, at 250 metres above sea level, in the heart of Pupillin, one of the Jura’s most prestigious villages. Savagnin, the emblematic grape of the region, thrives here, developing its signature mineral tension. The microclimate, with warm summers tempered by fresh breezes and cool nights, preserves both freshness and aromatic complexity.
Winemaking and Ageing
Harvesting is carried out by hand, carefully selecting only the best bunches. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed after a short skin maceration. Fermentation takes place in foudres at controlled temperature, followed by 12 months’ ageing in wood, adding depth and roundness without masking varietal purity. Malolactic fermentation is completed, and no additions are made before bottling, ensuring the wine expresses its terroir with authenticity.
Tasting Profile
Le Glanon Savagnin 2023 is made in the ouillé (non-oxidative) style – bright and energetic, with aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus, green apple, and hints of fresh herbs. On the palate, it is taut and linear, with lively acidity and pronounced minerality reminiscent of chalk and wet stone. The finish is long, saline, and persistent – a hallmark of Pupillin Savagnin.
Food Pairing and Curiosities
Ideal with shellfish, grilled fish, fresh cheeses, and vegetarian dishes featuring crisp vegetables. The label, created exclusively for Les Caves de Pyrene by Clare Mallison after visiting the waterfalls of Pupillin, perfectly captures the wine’s freshness and vitality, embodying the spirit of the Jura.

Fruitière Vinicole de Pupillin
History
Founded in 1909 by a group of creative winegrowers from Pupillin, the Fruitière Vinicole was born from the idea of pooling skills, resources, and equipment to produce wines that truly reflect the local terroir. Over the years, the cooperative has preserved its original spirit, enhancing local traditions through a communal and supportive approach.
Vineyards and Territory
Today, the estate covers around 60 hectares, mainly in the commune of Pupillin, but also within the nearby appellations of Arbois and Côtes du Jura. The cooperative includes about 30 grower-members, some owning just a few rows of vines, who contribute to the overall production. Vineyards are farmed sustainably to preserve biodiversity and soil health.
Philosophy and Winemaking
Once harvested, the grapes are vinified together to create floral white wines and light reds typical of the Jura. The combination of modern techniques and traditional know-how results in wines that are both authentic to their terroir and highly drinkable.
Curiosity
The winery’s headquarters is located on Rue du Ploussard, a name that perfectly reflects the importance of Ploussard, one of the region’s most emblematic grape varieties.
