Le Glanon Chardonnay 2022 – Fruitière Vinicole Pupillin
Origin and Terroir
Le Glanon Chardonnay 2022 comes from 25-year-old vines rooted in marl soils with a South/South-West exposure, at 250 metres above sea level, in the heart of Pupillin. This Jura terroir, rich in minerality and excellent drainage, produces healthy, concentrated grapes. The microclimate, with warm summers tempered by fresh breezes and cool nights, helps preserve the freshness and aromatic complexity typical of Chardonnay in this region.
Winemaking and Ageing
Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, selecting only the finest bunches. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed after a short skin maceration to extract delicate aromas and structure. Fermentation takes place in foudres at controlled temperature, followed by 12 months’ ageing in wood, adding elegance and roundness without overpowering the wine. Full malolactic fermentation is completed, and there are no additions prior to bottling, ensuring the purest expression of the terroir.
Tasting Profile
This Le Glanon Chardonnay 2022 is in the ouillé (non-oxidative) style – bright, vibrant, and floral. Aromas of white flowers, green apple, and fresh almond emerge on the nose, with mineral notes reminiscent of wet stone. On the palate, it is linear and dynamic, with lively acidity, perfect balance, and a saline finish that invites another sip.
Food Pairing and Curiosities
Perfect with both freshwater and seawater fish, shellfish, Burgundy-style snails, and mixed salads with aromatic herbs. The label, created exclusively for Les Caves de Pyrene, was designed by Clare Mallison after a visit to the waterfalls of Pupillin, capturing the wine’s freshness and vitality.

Fruitière Vinicole de Pupillin
History
Founded in 1909 by a group of creative winegrowers from Pupillin, the Fruitière Vinicole was born from the idea of pooling skills, resources, and equipment to produce wines that truly reflect the local terroir. Over the years, the cooperative has preserved its original spirit, enhancing local traditions through a communal and supportive approach.
Vineyards and Territory
Today, the estate covers around 60 hectares, mainly in the commune of Pupillin, but also within the nearby appellations of Arbois and Côtes du Jura. The cooperative includes about 30 grower-members, some owning just a few rows of vines, who contribute to the overall production. Vineyards are farmed sustainably to preserve biodiversity and soil health.
Philosophy and Winemaking
Once harvested, the grapes are vinified together to create floral white wines and light reds typical of the Jura. The combination of modern techniques and traditional know-how results in wines that are both authentic to their terroir and highly drinkable.
Curiosity
The winery’s headquarters is located on Rue du Ploussard, a name that perfectly reflects the importance of Ploussard, one of the region’s most emblematic grape varieties.
