Syrah Felsen II 2023 – The Mineral Elegance of Burgenland by Christian Tschida
Origin & Vineyard
Syrah Felsen II 2023 comes from a single vineyard aged 35–40 years, rooted in a unique soil combination of limestone and quartz. This mineral-rich terroir, combined with ideal exposure, delivers grapes of outstanding aromatic concentration and natural freshness. Naturally low yields ensure intensity and purity.
Winemaking Philosophy
Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maturation in a single barrel preserve the pure expression of the terroir. No fining, no filtration, minimal sulphur addition – a minimalist approach that lets the Syrah speak for itself.
Aromatic Profile
Deep aromas of black olives, puttanesca sauce, black pepper, and wild herbs, all framed by the precision and tension provided by the quartz minerality.
Tasting Notes & Pairings
Vertical, fresh, and elegant on the palate, with silky tannins and a long, enveloping finish. Perfect with grilled red meats, game, aged cheeses, and Mediterranean-style spiced dishes.
