Duilio Secondo 2022 – Campagnano di Roma
Overview
D2 – Duilio Secondo 2022 is the natural white wine that best represents the soul of Cantina Duilio, a small artisanal winery in the heart of Campagnano di Roma. Made from Trebbiano and Malvasia Puntinata, it expresses the volcanic soils of Lazio with freshness, immediacy, and minerality. Spontaneous fermentation, no filtration, and no added sulphur make this cuvée a true manifesto of natural wine. Each bottle reflects Stefano and Irma’s philosophy of respect for the land and authenticity in every detail.
Wine History
The Duilio Secondo project was conceived as a second step in the winery’s vision, designed to embody their idea of a pure and contemporary white. The 2022 vintage was harvested from small plots between Campagnano and Trevignano, on volcanic soils that enhance local varieties. Trebbiano and Malvasia Puntinata, both traditional grapes of Lazio, find here a vibrant interpretation. This wine has become a benchmark for the winery, combining tradition with a modern natural approach.
Vineyard Philosophy
Work in the vineyard follows biodiversity, balance, and sustainability. No chemicals, no pesticides: vines grow naturally on volcanic soils rich in minerals. Yields are kept deliberately low to favor concentration and varietal character. Grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected to bring only the healthiest bunches into the cellar. The approach is consistent with the estate’s philosophy: vitality in the vineyard and transparency in the fruit, with no shortcuts.
Winemaking Approach
Duilio Secondo 2022 is vinified through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, with no filtration, clarification, or added SO₂. Ageing takes place in fiberglass tanks, a neutral material that preserves freshness and aromatic purity. The result is a vibrant, straightforward natural white wine with strong territorial identity.

Cantina Duilio: the heart of natural wine in Campagnano di Roma
History
Cantina Duilio is a young winery born from the passion and courage of Stefano and Irma, a couple who chose to invest in the territory of Campagnano di Roma and Trevignano. Their goal was clear from the beginning: to enhance an extraordinary landscape and restore its dignity through authentic wines without compromises. The estate lies between the Treja River and the Sorbo Park, on a plateau overlooking the surrounding panorama. Small-scale and artisanal, yet with a great vision: to produce natural wines that are the pure reflection of volcanic soil and the rural traditions of Lazio.
Philosophy in the Vineyard
Work in the vineyard follows principles of biodiversity and absolute respect for nature. No chemicals, no invasive interventions: vines are cultivated without herbicides or pesticides, allowing the soil’s natural cycle to thrive. Fermentations are spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts, and the winery avoids clarifications or filtrations. Equally important is the decision not to add sulphur dioxide (SO₂), ensuring each bottle tells the true story of the land. This uncompromising approach reflects Stefano and Irma’s desire to preserve the vitality of the grapes and the authenticity of the wine.
Approach in the Cellar
Production takes place in the historic center of Campagnano, inside ancient tuff caves that have been used for centuries for winemaking and ageing. In this naturally cool and humid environment, wines rest and mature without external interventions, following a slow and natural rhythm. Vinification is carried out without additives or manipulation: the result is living, dynamic wines that retain all the nuances of grape and soil. Every bottle is the outcome of artisanal care and direct commitment by the winemakers.
Territory and Style
The terroir of Campagnano and Trevignano is unique: it includes the Valle del Baccano, an ancient volcanic crater that belongs to the Sabatine hill area. Volcanic soils, rich in minerals and nutrients, give the grapes depth and a marked mineral component. The plateau where the vineyards are located, surrounded by wooded hills, creates a fresh and ventilated microclimate that ensures balanced ripening. Duilio’s wines have a distinctive style: fresh, direct, approachable, with great drinkability and a character that reflects their volcanic and natural origins.
