Champagne Frédéric Savart – Le Mont des Chrétiens 2018
A luminous expression of Chardonnay with depth and finesse
Le Mont des Chrétiens 2018 is a single-parcel Blanc de Blancs crafted entirely from Chardonnay, grown in the Premier Cru village of Villers-aux-Noeuds in the Montagne de Reims. This cuvée showcases the purity and elegance of the grape on chalk and sandy soils, interpreted with the restraint and detail Savart is known for. The warm 2018 vintage has shaped a Champagne of generous texture balanced by a crystalline mineral core.
It’s a Champagne of tension, generosity, and refined energy—a brilliant example of terroir-driven Chardonnay.
In the vineyard
This parcel is cultivated using sustainable, chemical-free viticulture. All vineyard work is done by hand, focusing on biodiversity and soil life. The chalky subsoils allow the Chardonnay to ripen with vibrancy while preserving freshness and saline complexity.
In the cellar
Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in used oak barrels and demi-muids, without temperature control. Malolactic fermentation is blocked, keeping acidity and tension intact. The wine ages on fine lees for about 10 months before tirage. After the second fermentation in bottle, it rests on the lees for extended aging. The dosage is minimal, consistent with the house’s Extra Brut style.

Frédéric Savart Champagne: Artisanal Excellence from the Montagne de Reims
In the world of Champagne, Frédéric Savart has become a key name for both enthusiasts and professionals. Based in the village of Écueil, his domaine operates on a small, artisanal scale but with a modern and precise vision. His approach—rooted in respect for the terroir, minimal intervention, and a deep understanding of each vintage—has resulted in cuvées that combine intensity, finesse, and unmistakable character.
The Identity of Écueil: A Terroir Expressed in Every Bottle
Écueil lies on the western edge of the Montagne de Reims, a region historically renowned for Pinot Noir. The soils here, composed of chalk and sand, bring a distinct mineral tension and aromatic clarity to the wines. Savart also works small plots in Villiers-aux-Noeuds, adding further nuance and complexity to his blends.
In total, Frédéric cultivates around four hectares, all farmed with methods that respect the natural balance of the vineyard. Biodiversity is encouraged, chemical inputs are kept to a minimum, and every decision in the vineyard is made with the long-term vitality of the soil in mind.
A Distinct Style, Rooted in Precision and Sensitivity
What sets Savart apart is his ability to combine vibrant energy with layered depth. Each cuvée is crafted with intent, shaped by the unique character of its origin, yet marked by his signature style. Oak is used with precision. Malolactic fermentations are selectively allowed. Aging on the lees is carefully timed. The goal is always to reveal purity, structure, and finesse.
Yet beyond technique, there is an almost intuitive element to Savart’s winemaking. It comes from a deep familiarity with his land and a willingness to let each vintage guide the process. Nothing is forced, and no formula is rigidly followed—each wine is the result of constant listening and adaptation.
Signature Cuvées That Define a Philosophy
Among his most iconic expressions is L’Ouverture, a 100% Pinot Noir that captures the vibrant essence of Écueil—red fruit, lifted acidity, and refined balance. L’Accomplie, a Pinot Noir–Chardonnay blend, offers more complexity and a layered, elegant profile. For collectors and connoisseurs, the domaine’s single-parcel bottlings and micro-vinified editions present rare opportunities to taste Champagne in its most unfiltered form.
Each label tells a story. Not of stylistic flamboyance or overextraction, but of transparency, place, and purpose. These are wines that do not shout but speak clearly—and stay with you.
Why Choose Frédéric Savart
Drinking a bottle of Savart Champagne is more than a tasting experience. It’s a choice to support a grower who has deliberately taken a different path—one that favors authenticity over volume, craft over convention. In a region often defined by grandeur and marketing, his wines are an intimate, deeply personal expression of what Champagne can be when it’s made with care, vision, and soul.
