Jacquesson Dizy Terres Rouges Rosé 2012
A Rosé of Rare Character and Intensity
The Dizy Terres Rouges Rosé 2012 by Jacquesson is a masterpiece of precision and elegance, born from a single parcel that challenges the stylistic boundaries of rosé in Champagne. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this wine embodies the essence of a unique terroir and a respectful vinification process, capturing the authenticity of both vintage and soil.
The Vineyard: the Strength of Dizy’s Terroir
The Terres Rouges parcel lies in Dizy, on a south-facing slope characterized by clay-limestone soils rich in iron, giving the name “Terres Rouges”. This unique soil composition imparts extraordinary maturity and aromatic depth to the Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyards, cultivated without chemical interference, are managed manually with a strong focus on natural balance. The 2012 vintage, marked by a cool and dry climate, enhanced the acidity and tension of the fruit, guaranteeing remarkable aging potential.
The Vinification: Delicacy and Precision
The vinification of the Dizy Terres Rouges Rosé 2012 follows a minimalist and respectful approach. After manual harvest and strict grape selection, the Pinot Noir undergoes rosé vinification through a short skin maceration, extracting color and aromas with great finesse. The alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in large oak vats, while the malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. After a long lees aging, the wine is disgorged with an extremely low dosage, thus enhancing the purity and identity of the cru.
Tasting Notes
Visually, it reveals an elegant antique pink hue, brilliant and refined. The bouquet is broad and enveloping, offering notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants, pomegranate, and spicy hints of pink pepper and black tea. On the palate, the attack is vibrant and silky, supported by a pronounced mineral framework. The finish is long and refined, recalling crunchy fruits and a subtle citrus vein.
Food Pairings
The Dizy Terres Rouges Rosé 2012 pairs perfectly with sophisticated, structured dishes such as smoked salmon, duck à l’orange, red tuna sashimi, or seafood risotto. It also beautifully matches bloomy rind cheeses like Brie de Meaux.

Maison Jacquesson
A Story of Independence and Vision
Founded in 1798 in Châlons-sur-Marne, Maison Jacquesson is one of the most admired names in Champagne. Already at the beginning of the 19th century, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Memmie Jacquesson, the house received a gold medal from Napoleon Bonaparte for the exceptional quality of its wines. Despite its incredible centuries-old history, the true modern renaissance came in 1974, when the Chiquet family purchased the estate and relaunched it with a clear philosophy: artisanal production, the pursuit of pure expression, and the utmost respect for the terroir.
A Radical Approach in the Vineyard
Jacquesson stands out in Champagne for treating its vineyards like true gardens. Brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet gradually reduced yields to enhance every single parcel, favoring very low production and vineyard practices inspired by biodynamics, although without formal certification. Their 28 hectares of estate vineyards are located in some of the most prestigious crus: Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Avize, and Oiry. Soils are worked manually, natural fertilizers are used, and every action is taken to respect the natural balance of the plant and the land.
Harvesting is done exclusively by hand, with strict grape selection directly in the vineyard. The Chiquet brothers firmly believe that the quality of the wine is born first and foremost from the health and vitality of the grapes.
A Rigorous Philosophy in the Cellar
In the cellar, Jacquesson continues its pursuit of purity and balance. Fermentations occur spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large oak barrels, a traditional method that allows the wines to fully express the complexity of the terroir. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally without intervention.
The dosage, in the final cuvées, is minimal or even absent. This “brut nature” or “extra brut” approach aims to enhance the finesse and transparency of the wines without masking anything. Disgorgement is done manually after long lees aging, often exceeding five years.
Iconic Wines: A Continuous Search
Jacquesson abandoned the idea of a perpetual cuvée to embrace the philosophy of numbered series. Thus, the famous Cuvée 700 was born, a unique project that tells the story of each individual vintage in its authenticity. Each cuvée represents a specific harvest base, enriched with small percentages of reserve wines.
In addition to the 700 line, Jacquesson produces extraordinary single-parcel Champagnes, such as Dizy Corne Bautray, Avize Champ Caïn, Aÿ Vauzelle Terme, and Dizy Terres Rouges, wines of remarkable precision and complexity, crafted in extremely limited quantities.
A Cult Maison
With a unique style characterized by depth, elegance, and great energy, Jacquesson is today considered one of the most brilliant and respected houses in Champagne. It produces long-lived wines with great personality, always capable of moving those who taste them without ever yielding to trends.
The choice not to expand and to maintain relatively small production, focused on absolute quality, makes Jacquesson a true reference point for those seeking authentic, terroir-driven Champagnes without compromise.
