Almodí Petit Negre 2023
Philosophy in the vineyard and cellar approach
The Almodí Petit Negre 2023 comes from the D.O. Terra Alta, a land shaped by centuries of cultural exchange and ancient traditions, as its name recalls: “Almodí”, the Arabic word for market, a symbol of trade and human connection. This red wine is made from 100% Garnatxa Borruda, sourced from carefully tended vineyards and harvested by hand in boxes and palots. In the cellar, the winemaking respects the integrity of the grapes, with a short ageing of 4 months in French oak barrels, giving elegance without overpowering the fruit. The colour is deep violet, bright and dense, with good fluidity in the glass, on the nose it releases notes of raspberries, blackberries, wild berries, liquorice and spices, on the palate it is pleasant, fleshy, fresh and slightly tannic, with a long finish of red berry jam.

Altavins
A deep bond with Terra Alta
Altavins is a small winery located in the D.O. Terra Alta, in the southwest of Catalonia, a wine region with an ancient tradition. Here, fine wines are born that embody body and soul, capturing the essence of native varieties, enhanced by the dry climate and dominant winds that shape the vineyards. Founded in 2001, Altavins has grown steadily, carving out a name in the Catalan wine market thanks to a philosophy based on identity, honesty and a strong Mediterranean spirit.
In the vineyard: biodiversity and character
Altavins’ philosophy is rooted in environmentally friendly viticulture, which observes and enhances the natural virtues of the grapes, intervening only when necessary. The vineyards, located between 350 and 550 metres above sea level, enjoy a typical inland Mediterranean landscape: well-drained soils, rich in limestone and low in organic matter. The dry water regime keeps fungal diseases to a minimum, allowing sustainable practices, while winds like the Cerç support the natural ripening of the grapes, resulting in healthy, mature fruit rich in aromas.
In the cellar: enhancing the Mediterranean essence
Every process in the cellar is designed to respect and express the uniqueness of Terra Alta. The minimal intervention approach favours fermentations that preserve the varietal aromas, without forcing or aggressive corrections. The result is authentic, elegant wines that tell the story of a unique land, where the strong temperature changes between day and night enrich the grapes with intense flavours and scents. The pursuit of excellence comes from a constant dialogue between vineyard and cellar: every Altavins bottle is a declaration of love for the Catalan land.
