Volcania Syrah 2020
Vineyard and story
Volcania Syrah 2020 comes exclusively from Syrah grapes grown on Kos’s volcanic soils, where low yields and careful manual harvest ensure high concentration and pure character. Harvested at the end of September by hand in small crates to protect grape integrity on the way to the winery.
Winery approach
In the winery, the grapes undergo gentle destemming, careful sorting and a cold pre-fermentation under controlled temperature. Alcoholic fermentation follows in stainless steel with delicate pumping over. The wine matures for six months on its fine lees with selective bâtonnage to enrich texture and complexity. This Syrah is intense and layered, ready to drink or age for 3–4 years.
Colour: deep ruby red with violet highlights.
Nose: ripe red fruits, plums, raspberries, floral hints and fine spices.
Palate: intense, round, with green pepper, truffle, chestnut and leather notes, persistent finish.

Volcania Winery: A Corner of Volcanic Greece in Kos
Among volcanic rocks and family tradition
Northwest of Kefalos, on the beautiful island of Kos, stands the Volcania Winery, nestled in a unique landscape of volcanic rocks that give its wines unmistakable aromas and flavours. Here, in the Volkania area, a small family-run winery has chosen to cultivate its passion for viticulture, combining the island’s excellent climate with a deep respect for local tradition. It is a story of love for the land and dedication to a craft that, harvest after harvest, tells the story of Greece’s most authentic wine culture.
Vineyard philosophy: respect and territory
At Volcania Winery, the philosophy is clear: preserve nature and transform the mineral richness of the volcanic soil into wines with strong character. The vineyards, farmed with sustainable methods and minimal intervention, benefit from a unique microclimate that ensures slow ripening and intense aromas. Production is deliberately limited, focusing on quality and the identity of each bottle, a tangible sign of artisanal work and attention to detail.
Winery approach: the essence of the land in every bottle
In the cellar, every bunch is handled with maximum care. Spontaneous fermentations, traditional containers and gentle winemaking bring out the minerality and aromatic complexity that only Kos’ volcanic soils can offer. Low yields, strict grape selection and meticulous ageing ensure that each bottle tells the liquid story of Volkania’s landscape: intense, fragrant, unique.
