Spätburgunder Trocken Reserve 2022 Keller
Overview
The Spätburgunder Trocken Reserve 2022 Keller is one of the most refined and profound expressions of Pinot Noir crafted by the renowned Rheinhessen estate. Born from meticulous vineyard selection and the Keller family’s centuries of expertise, this Reserve version embodies structure, complexity, and longevity, balanced by purity of fruit and elegant oak influence. The 2022 vintage delivered ripe, healthy grapes, producing a wine that is both velvety and intense.
History
Pinot Noir has deep roots in German viticulture, and in Rheinhessen it has found terroirs capable of producing wines of great elegance and character. Since 1789, the Keller family has been cultivating their finest parcels with care and precision. The Reserve cuvée is conceived as a special selection, showcasing the full potential of Spätburgunder in exceptional years. The 2022 vintage perfectly reflects this vision, offering a wine both powerful and graceful.
Vineyard Philosophy
Vines are cultivated using sustainable and artisanal practices, respecting nature and biodiversity. Calcareous and clay soils provide complexity, minerality, and finesse, while strict yield control ensures concentration of aromas and structure. Manual harvesting allows only the best grapes to be included in this exceptional Reserve.
Winemaking Approach
In the cellar, fermentation is carried out with native yeasts and spontaneous processes, followed by long skin contact to extract aroma, color, and silky tannins. Aging takes place in oak barrels and tonneaux, partly new and partly second use, lending complexity, elegance, and age-worthiness without overwhelming the fruit. Minimal sulfite use preserves authenticity.
