Pecorino 2024
Overview
The Pecorino 2024 from Podere della Torre is a certified organic white wine that elegantly embodies the authentic character of Abruzzo. This native variety, rediscovered and revalued in recent decades, is known for its freshness, minerality, and unique aromatic complexity. The 2024 vintage faithfully reflects the winery’s artisanal philosophy, blending territorial identity, sustainability, and precise winemaking.
Wine History
Pecorino is an ancient grape variety from the Apennine areas of Abruzzo and Marche, traditionally grown in cooler hillside vineyards. After nearly disappearing, it has gained renewed recognition for producing complex, long-lived wines with remarkable aromatics. Podere della Torre cultivates it organically, honoring tradition while highlighting its renaissance as one of Italy’s most distinctive white grapes.
Vineyard Philosophy
The vineyards are located in the hills of Spoltore (Pescara), cultivated under the traditional tendone system with an average vine age of over twenty years. Certified organic farming preserves soil vitality and biodiversity. Manual vineyard work and careful grape selection ensure healthy, aromatic fruit with natural acidity that guarantees freshness and longevity in the finished wine.
Winemaking Approach
Harvested by hand and quickly pressed, the Pecorino 2024 undergoes a pre-fermentation cold maceration to enhance primary aromas. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. The wine is aged on fine lees, a choice that enriches texture, complexity, and structure while maintaining vibrant freshness and typicity.

Podere della Torre – Winery in Abruzzo
History & Identity
Podere della Torre is an artisanal winery located in the rolling hills of Abruzzo. Its identity is deeply rooted in tradition, combined with a modern vision of organic farming. The estate was born from the desire to create wines that fully reflect the territory, produced with respect for the land and its biodiversity. Here, history, passion, and cultural heritage come together to deliver wines that carry the authentic taste of Abruzzo “from the hills to the glass.”
Vineyard Philosophy & Organic Cultivation
The winery follows organic farming, not as a marketing choice but as a true philosophy of life. Chemical pesticides and intensive practices are avoided in favor of sustainable methods that respect the soil and the natural ecosystem. The vineyards, planted mainly with indigenous varieties, benefit from the hilly location, where exposure and ventilation enhance the freshness and aromatic profile of the grapes.
In the Cellar & Winemaking Approach
At Podere della Torre, winemaking is carried out with a strong artisanal spirit. Although not all technical details are disclosed, the philosophy is clear: vinification aims to preserve the natural identity of the grape. Transparency, simplicity, and respect for the raw material guide every process, whether the wine is aged in steel or in wood. Each bottle reflects the authenticity and uniqueness of the estate’s terroir.
Territory, Vines & People
The Abruzzo hills, with their Mediterranean climate mitigated by mountain breezes, offer ideal conditions for viticulture. The soils, combined with altitude, give balance and minerality to the wines. The people behind Podere della Torre play a central role: their commitment and passion are the soul of the winery, ensuring wines that are not standardized, but rather true to their land and crafted with personality.
