Nekaj 2020 – Damijan Podversic
A free‑spirit Friulano
Nekaj is a 100% Friulano, grown on ponca terraces of Monte Calvario using organic–biodynamic practices. The bush-trained vines grow amidst native vegetation, untreated and untamed, reflecting the site’s unique terroir.
Uncompromising winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in large wooden barrels with extended skin contact lasting several weeks, adding complexity and structure. The wine matures in both wood and stainless steel, without fining or filtration, and minimal sulfites added only at bottling.
Tasting notes
The wine shows a rich straw yellow hue, with aromas of fresh almond, hawthorn blossom, and delicate herbal hints. On the palate, it’s lively and savory, with vibrant acidity and a smooth texture, leading to a minerally elegant, long finish.

Damijan Podversic – The Visionary of Collio
A story rooted in vision
Damijan Podversic began winemaking in the late 1980s, deeply influenced by natural wine pioneer Josko Gravner. He reclaimed abandoned vineyards on Monte Calvario in the heart of Friuli’s Collio region. Together with his wife Elena, he crafts artisanal wines that reflect their environment and tradition.
Vineyard philosophy
Farming is strictly organic and biodynamic, with no chemicals, no irrigation, and very low yields. Soils are composed of ponca, a marl sandstone that imparts minerality and structure. The vineyard is treated as a living, breathing ecosystem, nurtured in balance with lunar cycles.
In the cellar
Spontaneous fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts. Whites undergo prolonged skin maceration, producing bold, structured and age-worthy orange wines. No filtering, no fining, and only minimal sulfites at bottling. These are authentic, expressive wines, shaped by nature and time.
Iconic wines
Among Damijan’s most renowned labels: Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia, Nekaj (Friulano), Kaplja (white blend), Prelit (red blend), and Pinot Grigio. All are expressive, textural, and layered with vibrant energy.
