Meursault AOC 2023
The pure soul of Meursault in a bottle
The Meursault AOC 2023 from Virely Rougeot captures the authentic character of one of the most celebrated villages in the Côte de Beaune. Sourced from carefully selected plots within Meursault, this Chardonnay showcases the perfect balance of elegance, volume and mineral freshness. The Virely Rougeot family, deeply rooted in Burgundy for generations, respects traditional practices in the vineyard to preserve soil health and the natural expression of each vintage. This wine embodies the essence of Meursault in every sip.
In the vineyard: meticulous attention
The vineyards for the Meursault AOC grow on clay-limestone and marl soils, providing excellent drainage and a strong mineral backbone. Vineyard management focuses on low yields, manual work and sustainable methods to keep the vines balanced and healthy. Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes are selected, ready to express all the aromatic complexity of Meursault.
In the cellar: tradition and finesse
The Meursault AOC 2023 is vinified with the utmost care following classic Burgundian methods. Gentle pressing preserves the purity of the juice. Fermentation takes place naturally in French oak barrels, where the wine matures on the lees for about 12 months with moderate bâtonnage, enhancing structure while keeping freshness. Colour: bright straw yellow. Nose: white flowers, fresh butter, mineral hints and toasted hazelnut. Palate: round and velvety, with fine tension and a savoury, persistent finish.

Domaine Virely Rougeot
A family tradition rooted in the heart of Burgundy
Domaine Virely Rougeot is a family-run estate proudly cultivating nine hectares of vineyards spread across Pommard, Beaune and Meursault. Here, the vineyard is not just work but a true legacy handed down through generations, starting with Monsieur Louis Virely who, at the beginning of the last century, took over his in-laws’ estate and, in 1926, bought the prestigious Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Arvelets, the jewel of the Domaine. The family’s expansion continued with Bernard, Louis’s son, who by marrying a winemaker from Meursault enriched the estate’s appellations. Today, Patrick and his wife carry this heritage forward with the same dedication, keeping the Burgundian tradition alive.
Philosophy in the vineyard: respect and precision
The care of the vineyard is the beating heart of Virely Rougeot. They work according to the principles of traditional Burgundian viticulture, with targeted interventions, meticulous attention to detail and a profound respect for the terroir. The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods to preserve biodiversity and ensure healthy, balanced harvests. The grape selection is strict, the result of precise pruning, low yields and hand-picking to gather only the best clusters.
In the cellar: tradition and character
In the cellar, each vinification reflects the unique identity of each plot. Virely Rougeot vinifies its grapes in full respect of Burgundian practices: spontaneous fermentations, ageing in carefully selected oak barrels and measured use of new wood to preserve the elegance of the fruit. The wines rest as long as needed to express the purity and complexity that have made this historic estate renowned. The result is a collection of labels that tell the story of the most authentic Burgundy, combining depth, finesse and balance.
