Wine Overview
The Matri 2019 from Antonino Asta is a macerated Catarratto with intense aromatic notes, designed to highlight the native Sicilian grape in a natural and original style. With a maceration of a couple of weeks and aging exclusively in stainless steel, the wine maintains freshness, minerality, and sapidity. The Matri 2019 contains sulfites, but in minimal amounts (< 20 mg/L), ideal for lovers of natural and low-intervention wines.
Wine History
Matri 2019 represents the evolution of Antonino Asta’s experimentation with macerated wines, aiming to give Catarratto more structure, aromatic complexity, and an intense color. The project captures the terroir of Bosco Falconeria, producing a natural, expressive white wine with originality and character.
Vineyard Philosophy
The Catarratto grapes come from organically farmed vineyards, cultivated with respect for the natural cycle of the vine. Organic management ensures healthy, fully ripe grapes with well-defined pedoclimatic characteristics that are faithfully expressed in every bottle. Sustainability and territory respect guide all vineyard decisions.
Winemaking Approach
Vinification of Matri 2019 involves maceration in stainless steel for a couple of weeks, followed by aging in steel, with minimal added sulfur (< 20 mg/L). This method enhances natural aromas, freshness, and complexity, producing a wine with slightly amber color, medium body, and ready-to-drink elegance.

Antonino Asta Winery: Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of Partinico
History of the Winery
The Antonino Asta Winery is located in Partinico (PA), in the Bosco Falconeria area, covering 14 hectares, 11 of which are vineyards. Deeply rooted in the local territory, the winery was founded by Nino Asta’s grandparents and has been passed down through generations. In 2019, Nino, the great-grandson of the founders, began bottling the estate’s wines, aiming to restore value to these long-overlooked products, bringing attention back to authentic Sicilian wines.
Vineyard Philosophy
Antonino Asta’s philosophy is based on certified organic cultivation since 2015. The vineyards, carefully maintained, are located on a hill that offers optimal sun exposure and natural ventilation, essential for grape ripening. Organic management promotes soil health and biodiversity, ensuring healthy and expressive grapes. Respect for the natural cycle of the vines guides all agricultural decisions, producing authentic and sustainable wines.
Winemaking Approach
In the winery, production follows minimal intervention principles, favoring spontaneous fermentations and aging methods that highlight the natural character of the wines. The goal is to create products that reflect the terroir of Partinico, local tradition, and the organic philosophy of the estate. Every step of vinification is designed to preserve freshness, aromas, and complexity, avoiding filtration or fining and limiting sulfites to controlled levels.
The Territory and Experience
The estate sits on a panoramic hill overlooking the Castle of Calatubo and the splendid Gulf of Castellammare, with views stretching from San Vito Lo Capo to Punta Raisi. This unique setting not only defines the wines’ character but offers a complete sensory experience, blending breathtaking landscapes with wines that tell the story of the land. Antonino Asta Winery is thus a meeting point of passion, nature, and Sicilian tradition, producing wines that capture the essence of Partinico.
