Vineyard Philosophy

Les Copines des Copains 2023 is born in Eguisheim, Alsace, where the Hausherr family tends each vine with a strict organic and biodynamic approach. The vines are cared for by hand or with the help of a draft horse, avoiding any invasive machinery. This craftsmanship protects the vitality of the soil and yields healthy, balanced grapes — the essence of a wine that is alive, honest and made to be shared.

Cellar Approach

For this skin-contact wine, Hausherr combines Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sylvaner and other local varieties. Grapes are hand-picked, destemmed and left on the skins for several days to extract aromas, color and texture. Fermentation is spontaneous, followed by a gentle pressing in a manual vertical press. Ageing takes place in neutral vessels, with no fining or filtration: a true natural wine, pure and expressive.

Cellar Approach

In the cellar, the care and respect for the fruit continue just as meticulously. Grapes are hand-harvested and pressed with a manual vertical press, a technique that preserves the integrity of the fruit. Thanks to the natural balance achieved in the vineyard, the musts require no chemical intervention or additives during vinification. Hausherr also stands out for the practice of complantation, an ancient Alsatian tradition of co-fermenting different grape varieties from the same lieu-dit to authentically express the terroir, going beyond simple varietal character. Their wines bear the name of the place of origin or the cuvée, ensuring a strong and recognizable territorial identity.
