Arbois, Jura
Jean Baptiste Menigoz comes from a family of dairy farmers and until 2000 worked as a teacher. It was precisely in that year that he met another teacher who later became a producer, Raphael Monnier of Domaine Ratapoil, and together they decided to buy some land in Arbois, but their idea of wine was still conventional, even if their curiosity towards the natural was not missing.
Jean Baptiste subsequently enrolled at the Faculty of Oenology in Beaune, at the end of which he attended an internship with Stephane Tissot, and his love for natural wine was definitively born.
In 2012 he founded the Domaine des Bottes Rouges, which over the years reached a vineyard area of 7 hectares, mainly in Trousseau, Poulsard and Savagnin.
Minimum intervention and therefore respect for nature are the cornerstones of the company with long and whole bunch macerations, spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts and no addition of sulfur dioxide.
