Origin and Terroir

Le Glanon Trousseau 2022 comes from the “Parcella de L’Huguenette,” located in the heart of Arbois, on Triassic red marl soils. This distinctive composition lends the wine a marked minerality and vibrant freshness. The 20-year-old vines grow at 250 metres above sea level, in a microclimate combining continental influences and cooling breezes, which preserve the acidity and aromatic precision of Trousseau.

Vinification and Ageing

The grapes are hand-harvested to preserve their integrity. They undergo carbonic maceration for 10–15 days, a technique that enhances fruit expression and softens tannins. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, truncated wooden vats, followed by maturation in foudres for 6–8 months. Full malolactic fermentation adds roundness and harmony to the wine.

Tasting Notes

Bright, light red in colour, typical of Trousseau yet surprisingly intense on the nose. Aromas of fresh red berries—raspberry, redcurrant, wild strawberry—are complemented by floral nuances and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is juicy and lively, with vibrant acidity, delicate tannins, and a refreshing, sapid finish.

Curiosities and Context

This wine is produced exclusively for Les Caves de Pyrene, featuring a label designed by Clare Mallison that visually captures the essence of Arbois. The choice of carbonic maceration and large cask ageing aims to preserve the pure character of the variety while enhancing drinkability and terroir expression.

Fruitière Vinicole de Pupillin

History

Founded in 1909 by a group of creative winegrowers from Pupillin, the Fruitière Vinicole was born from the idea of pooling skills, resources, and equipment to produce wines that truly reflect the local terroir. Over the years, the cooperative has preserved its original spirit, enhancing local traditions through a communal and supportive approach.

Vineyards and Territory

Today, the estate covers around 60 hectares, mainly in the commune of Pupillin, but also within the nearby appellations of Arbois and Côtes du Jura. The cooperative includes about 30 grower-members, some owning just a few rows of vines, who contribute to the overall production. Vineyards are farmed sustainably to preserve biodiversity and soil health.

Philosophy and Winemaking

Once harvested, the grapes are vinified together to create floral white wines and light reds typical of the Jura. The combination of modern techniques and traditional know-how results in wines that are both authentic to their terroir and highly drinkable.

The winery’s headquarters is located on Rue du Ploussard, a name that perfectly reflects the importance of Ploussard, one of the region’s most emblematic grape varieties.
