Ice Cider Sweet – The Frozen Elegance of Ukrainian Apples
Origin and Territory
The Ice Cider Sweet is born in the Kiev region, the beating heart of Ukraine, where winter brings intense frosts and silent landscapes. Here, Berryland’s orchards host a variety of local apple cultivars, grown without chemical interventions to preserve the fruit’s purity. The continental climate and low winter temperatures create the ideal conditions for apples rich in sugars and complex aromas.
The Winter Harvest
The magic of this ice cider begins in December, when the apples are hand-picked directly from the trees, already naturally frozen by the winter frost. This process concentrates sugars and aromas, resulting in an intensely sweet and aromatic juice. It’s a rare and demanding harvest, requiring patience, timing, and respect for nature’s rhythms.
Cold Fermentation
Once harvested, the apples are pressed, and their juice is set to slowly ferment at low temperatures. This method, typical of ice cider tradition, preserves the fruity notes, the balance between sweetness and acidity, and the velvety mouthfeel typical of the style. The result is a smooth, enveloping beverage with remarkable aromatic persistence.
The Taste of Winter
Berryland’s Ice Cider Sweet is a hymn to the cold season: intense, silky, and naturally sweet, with aromas of ripe apple, honey, and delicate hints of spice. Perfect to enjoy on its own as a meditation wine, or paired with blue cheeses and desserts made with dried fruits. Every sip tells the story of the bond between Ukrainian frost and the generosity of the land.

Origins and Identity
Founded in 2017 in the picturesque village of Makarivska Buda, on the border between the Kiev and Zhytomyr regions, Berryland was born from a deep connection to its land. The name comes from the abundance of berries growing wild around the village, a natural landscape that has always inspired the company’s philosophy.
The Vision of Vitalii Karvyha
Winemaker and owner Vitalii Karvyha has a clear goal: to spread the culture and tradition of Ukrainian beverages through authentic ciders and meads. The range changes every year according to harvests and climate conditions: in 2018, 12 types were produced, while in 2019 only 7, for a total of around 50,000 bottles.
Natural Production
Berryland ciders, with a moderate alcohol content of 7–7.5% vol, are appreciated for their freshness and drinkability. Production avoids chemical interventions to preserve the fruit’s purity and integrity. Even the beehives used for mead are managed without antibiotics, maintaining a respectful and sustainable approach.
The Heart in the Orchards
All orchards are owned by the company and include apple varieties such as Calvilla, McIntosh, Breedon Pippin, Antonovka, Aport, Renetta, Sharopay, Lemon Apple, and Spartan. This wealth of cultivars offers a broad spectrum of aromas and flavors, creating ciders with the perfect balance between acidity and sweetness — a genuine expression of the Ukrainian terroir.
