Himmel auf Erden 2024 – Grande Cuvée White by Christian Tschida
Wine story
“Himmel auf Erden” (Heaven on Earth) is one of Christian Tschida’s most iconic wine series. The Grande Cuvée White blends Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, and Furmint into a wine full of personality, creativity, and a touch of irony. The vineyards are located between 180 and 260 meters above sea level, on calcareous and schist soils.
Vineyard
Grüner Veltliner comes from a high-density planting (9,500 vines, some up to 60 years old) worked by horse. Sauvignon Blanc grows in an adjacent vineyard, and Furmint comes from a small “garden” plot that shows the grape’s impressive potential.
Winemaking
Whole-cluster pressing, fermentation, and aging in large used barrels, with no fining or filtration. The result is a white wine that is broad, elegant, and incredibly drinkable.
Design & identity
In 2022, the label was redesigned by young Viennese graphic artist Barbora Keherova, who gave a fresh interpretation to Christian’s original design.
Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow. Aromas of white-fleshed fruits, aromatic herbs, and citrus. On the palate, it’s elegant, fresh, and saline, with a long mineral finish.
