Overview
Giusto 2022 is a natural red wine made from 100% Tai Rosso, cultivated on calcareous soils in the Vicenza hills. With only 800 bottles produced, it represents the purest and rarest expression of this historic variety. Masiero’s artisanal and natural approach highlights freshness, minerality, and harmony, emphasizing the elegance and simplicity of Tai Rosso. This wine tells the story of the land and the legacy of century-old vines with intensity and authenticity.
History of the wine
The name Giusto reflects the balance and precision that characterize this wine. The century-old Tai Rosso vines are guardians of a rare viticultural heritage, grown on unique calcareous soils that give the fruit its distinctive traits. Giusto 2022 was born from Masiero’s idea of preserving and enhancing these old plots, continuing a centuries-old tradition while giving Tai Rosso a vibrant and contemporary voice in the natural wine scene of Vicenza.
Vineyard philosophy
The ancient Tai Rosso vines are meticulously cared for by hand, without the use of chemicals or synthetic substances, following biodynamic and natural principles. Every intervention, from pruning to manual harvest, respects nature’s rhythm and preserves the integrity of the grapes. The calcareous soil imparts intense minerality and aromatic freshness, forming the soul of the wine. The goal is to produce grapes that fully express their terroir and the history of the vineyard.
Cellar approach
Fermentation occurs spontaneously in open wooden vats, where the must remains in contact with the skins for 10 days, developing color, aroma, and tannins naturally. After maceration, the wine matures for 12 months in wooden barrels, followed by further bottle aging. No fining or filtration is applied, so Giusto 2022 reaches the glass in its most intact, authentic, and lively form, faithful to Masiero’s philosophy.
Tasting notes and pairings
Giusto 2022 displays an intense garnet red color, bright and vibrant. Aromas of ripe red fruits, cherries, and forest floor notes are accompanied by subtle spice and elegant mineral hints. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with silky tannins and lively acidity that ensure balance and drinkability. The finish is long, harmonious, and persistent. Ideal with red meats, roasts, aged cheeses, and traditional Vicenza cuisine.

Overview
Masiero is a family-run winery in the heart of Vicenza that embodies the belief that agriculture can truly preserve the land. Rooted in biodynamics and respect for nature, the estate is dedicated to native and historic varieties such as Tai Rosso, Garganega (once called Dorona), and Pinot Grigio Ramato. Each bottle reflects volcanic soils, experimentation, and a deep connection to tradition and territory.
The history of Masiero
The story began in the early 2000s, when Franco Masiero planted his first row of Merlot. What started as a pastime soon turned into Verdugo, a wine that transparently reveals both volcanic terroir and family passion. In 2015, together with his wife Francesca and daughter Giulia, Franco began a new project to restore an old vineyard in Sant’Urbano, on soils of marl and volcanic rock. This land rekindled their love for the area’s ancient grape varieties, with Tai Rosso being its centennial soul.
Vineyard philosophy
In the vineyard, everything revolves around balance, the core principle of biodynamics. Human intervention always follows the needs of nature, guided by the biodynamic calendar, which takes into account the influence of celestial rhythms. Pruning, green pruning, and harvesting are carried out by hand, while copper and sulfur treatments are applied using a lightweight crawler tractor to avoid soil compaction. No synthetic chemicals are ever used.
Work in the cellar
In the winery, the same principles apply: no selected yeasts, no added sulfur, no temperature control, and no chemical additives. The wines are guided through spontaneous fermentation and natural evolution, reflecting the singularity of each vintage. Cleanliness and precision ensure that the fruit’s authenticity remains untouched, while experimentation with new materials meets the rediscovery of ancient methods.
Identity of the wines
Masiero wines are alive, expressive, and unrepeatable, a direct expression of the land and the year that shaped them. They combine authenticity, innovation, and heritage, giving voice to Vicenza’s volcanic terroir and its forgotten grapes.
