VikeVike Ghirada Gurguruò 2020
The story of a high-altitude cru
VikeVike Ghirada Gurguruò 2020 was born to tell the story of a single vineyard located at 750 meters above sea level in the heart of Mamoiada. Simone Sedilesu, the young winemaker behind VikeVike, cultivates this historic 30-year-old parcel with sustainable methods passed down through generations. The traditional bush-trained vines highlight Cannonau’s identity, giving life to a wine shaped by altitude, wind, and granite.
Vineyard philosophy
In the Gurguruò vineyard, all work is manual and respectful of nature. The yield is deliberately low at 50 q/ha, so each bunch concentrates the pure essence of the terroir. The harvest takes place in late September, bringing in healthy, fully ripe grapes that reflect a balanced, fresh vintage typical of Mamoiada’s high vineyards.
Winemaking approach
In the cellar, vinification respects the raw material without manipulation. Fermentation is spontaneous in large 50 hl wooden truncated-cone vats, with maceration using 50% whole clusters and 50% destemmed grapes. A gentle pressing extracts only the heart of the fruit. Maturation follows for 18 months in 500-liter oak barrels of the third or fourth passage, then at least 6 months in bottle. The result is 3,200 bottles and 30 magnums of an elegant, mineral, and vertical Cannonau.
Colour: Bright ruby red with garnet highlights.
Nose: Notes of small red berries, Mediterranean herbs, hints of sweet spices.
Palate: Fresh and dynamic, with fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish.

VikeVike Winery: Deep Roots in Mamoiada, Heart of Barbagia
The History
The VikeVike Winery was born from the passion for wine and the determination of Simone Sedilesu, a young winemaker raised among his family’s vines. Located in Mamoiada, a picturesque village in the heart of Barbagia, Nuoro province, the winery is a tribute to love for the land and respect for its unique territory.
Simone’s story has deep roots, shaped by generations of winemakers: knowledge and gestures passed down from his grandfather and father. After earning his degree in oenology and gaining international experience, Simone founded his own winery in 2015. This is how VikeVike was born — a name that in the local dialect means “Look Look”, an invitation to discover, be surprised, and be moved.
Vineyard Philosophy
“Wine is made in the vineyard.” This is the principle behind every vintage at VikeVike. Simone manages 4.5 hectares of vineyards, all rented, producing about 25,000 bottles each year. This flexible approach allows him to explore different expressions of “Ghiradas”, the vineyard parcels of Mamoiada, capturing new nuances of the territory every year.
Farming is strictly organic and sustainable, respecting the environment and local biodiversity. Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes reach the cellar. Indigenous varieties, such as Cannonau and the rare Granatza, tell the authentic story of Mamoiada.
Winemaking Approach
Each plot is vinified separately to preserve its unique character. In the cellar, intervention is kept to a minimum: spontaneous fermentations, native yeasts, and no forced manipulation. Here, wine is guided, not altered.
Even for special cuvées, like the pure Granatza or blends with carefully selected purchased grapes, the goal remains the same: to craft genuine wines, capable of surprising and narrating an extraordinary land.
VikeVike is an invitation to discover: to pause, look, and taste. A sincere tribute to the identity of Mamoiada and to the passion of those who work the vineyards and cellar every day to make this unique corner of Sardinia shine.
