Dalsheim Oberer Hubacker Monopol Riesling Trocken GG 2020 Keller
Overview
The Dalsheim Oberer Hubacker Monopol Riesling Trocken GG 2020 is one of Keller’s greatest expressions of dry Riesling. Classified as a Grosses Gewächs (GG), the highest quality level for dry German wines, it comes from a historic vineyard exclusively owned by the estate. The 2020 vintage has produced a Riesling of remarkable concentration, elegance, and aging potential, perfectly balancing power and finesse.
History
The Oberer Hubacker vineyard in Dalsheim is a true jewel of the Rheinhessen, cultivated as a monopol by the Keller family. Its limestone-rich soils and privileged exposure provide the ideal conditions for producing Rieslings of great depth and tension. For generations, the Kellers have been guardians of this cru, making it one of the cornerstones of their international reputation. The GG designation underlines its role as a dry Riesling crafted to stand among the world’s greatest white wines.
Vineyard philosophy
Viticulture is carried out with sustainable and artisanal methods, keeping yields deliberately low to ensure concentration and minerality. The limestone soils give the wine salinity, verticality, and length, while the 2020 season offered slow, balanced ripening. Harvesting is entirely manual, with rigorous selection to guarantee only the finest grapes reach the cellar.
Winemaking approach
Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, mainly in stainless steel and partly in large neutral oak casks. The wine is then aged for several months, developing depth, harmony, and precision. The style of a GG emphasizes dry, dense, and structured Rieslings, where freshness and minerality remain the driving forces. Only minimal sulfites are used.
Tasting notes
Color: intense straw yellow with golden reflections.
Nose: ripe citrus, lime, white peach, yellow flowers, flint and herbal nuances.
Palate: dry, concentrated and vibrant, with cutting acidity, juicy fruit and pronounced salinity. The finish is long, powerful and extremely elegant.
Pairings
Ideal with lobster, shellfish, baked fish, refined white meats, poultry, mature cheeses and fine international cuisine. It also works wonderfully as a meditation wine.
