Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo 2023 Bossanova
Overview
The Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo 2023 Bossanova is an elegant and fresh rosé made from 100% Montepulciano grapes. Light yet expressive, it captures the freshness of the Controguerra hills with natural vibrancy and immediacy. This rosé balances fragrance and delicacy, ideal for those seeking a versatile, refreshing wine that expresses the pure essence of Montepulciano in its rosé form.
History of the Wine
Bossanova’s Cerasuolo was created to highlight Montepulciano in a lighter, fresher version, with a slightly early harvest to preserve delicate aromas and lively acidity. The 2023 vintage offered ideal conditions, producing healthy grapes with intense, youthful aromas. Vinified in white, the wine emerges bright, aromatic, and vibrant, representing the Abruzzo terroir with clarity and charm.
Vineyard Philosophy
The vineyards are cultivated according to artisanal, sustainable principles, without synthetic chemicals. Controguerra’s hillside position and the Adriatic breeze create an ideal microclimate with significant day-night temperature swings, allowing the grapes to develop intense and fresh flavors. Each cluster is hand-harvested to ensure maximum integrity and quality, reflecting Bossanova’s philosophy of terroir respect.
Approach in the Cellar
The 2023 Cerasuolo is vinified as a white wine: grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, with no extended skin contact, resulting in a bright pink color and delicate aroma. Spontaneous fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, with minimal or no added sulfites. Aging lasts 8 months in glazed concrete tanks, preserving freshness, minerality, and aromatic transparency. No oak or additives—just time, patience, and respect for the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Color: bright cherry pink with luminous reflections, transparent and inviting.
Nose: delicate and fragrant, with notes of strawberry, pomegranate, and subtle floral hints.
Palate: fresh, lively, and harmonious, with crisp acidity, light body, and a clean, savory finish that encourages another sip.
Food Pairings
Ideal with light appetizers, salads, seafood, and white meats. Excellent with fresh cheeses or tomato-based pasta, thanks to its natural freshness and versatility. Slightly chilled, it expresses the best qualities of a young, approachable rosé.

Bossanova: Artisan Wines from the Heart of Abruzzo
The Story of Bossanova
Born from the encounter between Andrea Quaglia, an internationally experienced manager, and Nat Colantonio, a musician and wine enthusiast, Bossanova embodies one of the most authentic expressions of contemporary Abruzzo winemaking. Just like the Brazilian music genre it’s named after, the winery blends harmony, rhythm, and sensitivity. Located in Controguerra, in the province of Teramo, Bossanova’s vineyards stretch between the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic Sea, a place where nature and culture coexist. From its inception, the project has aimed to create wines that reflect the soul, pace, and purity of rural Abruzzo through a modern and conscious approach.
Vineyard Philosophy
In the vineyards, Bossanova embraces a deep respect for nature and biodiversity. The gently rolling hills benefit from ideal climatic conditions, marked by wide temperature variations and marine breezes that preserve the aromatic integrity of the grapes. Farming follows biodynamic principles, with minimal soil intervention and exclusive use of natural preparations. No synthetic chemicals are employed—just patient, respectful work that keeps the vines in balance. Native varieties such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano Abruzzese are cultivated with devotion to local heritage and terroir expression.
Approach in the Cellar
Bossanova’s winemaking philosophy is based on purity and transparency. Fermentations occur spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, without forced temperature control, allowing the wines to follow their natural rhythm. Sulfur is used only in minimal quantities during bottling, while clarifying agents and additives are completely avoided. Maturation takes place in glazed concrete tanks or terracotta amphorae, enabling slow evolution and preserving the minerality of the terroir. Each bottle is a handcrafted reflection of the vineyard’s voice and the artisan’s intuition.
The Heart of Abruzzo in Every Glass
Bossanova’s wines capture the true spirit of Controguerra, where sandy and clay soils bring depth, vitality, and a sense of place. The winery represents a new generation of Abruzzese producers who believe that authenticity lies in the honesty of agricultural work. From the energetic Montepulciano to the bright, Mediterranean Trebbiano, every wine is a journey through land and emotion. Bossanova is Abruzzo that sings, ferments, and lives.
