Maison Chastagnol – Tarabate 2021
Tarabate 2021 is a natural red wine crafted from equal parts Syrah and Grenache, sourced from hand-harvested grapes in the Drôme region. It reflects Maison Chastagnol’s minimalist approach, focused on purity, balance, and the honest expression of fruit.
Spontaneous fermentation and stainless steel aging
The grapes undergo partial destemming before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks to retain vibrancy and clarity, without filtration or heavy intervention.
Red fruits and subtle smoky finish
The 2021 vintage reveals a nose of ripe red fruits, followed on the palate by flavors of black cherry, wild blackberry, and a hint of smokiness on the finish. The tannins are soft, the texture smooth, and the wine shows a refreshing acidity that keeps it balanced and food-friendly.
Friendly, fresh, and naturally expressive
This is a versatile red, ideal with grilled meats, charcuterie, or aged cheese. It’s easy to drink but far from simple—full of character and regional identity.

Maison Chastagnol – Natural wines from the Drôme: depth and drinkability
Maison Chastagnol is the artisanal project of Jérôme Chastagnol, a winemaker with no inherited land but a clear vision: to craft wines that are authentic, expressive, and accessible, with full respect for nature, fruit, and terroir. Located in the heart of the Drôme, southern Rhône Valley, Jérôme sources organic grapes from trusted local growers.
A journey built through hands-on experience
Before starting his own label, Jérôme trained with some of France’s most respected natural winemakers: Sylvain Bock in Ardèche, Tripoz in Mâconnais, and Yvon Métras in Beaujolais. These experiences shaped his low-intervention yet precise approach, with a strong focus on letting the vineyard speak through the wine.
Troglodyte cellar and minimal-intervention winemaking
Maison Chastagnol operates from a striking troglodyte cellar, a former quarry in Saint-Restitut, shared with two other producers. Grapes are hand-harvested and partially destemmed before undergoing spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Aging takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and clarity of fruit.
Wines of clarity, generosity, and natural elegance
Jérôme’s wines strike a fine balance between drinkability and complexity. They are clean, bright, and fruity, with delicate tannins and a naturally vibrant profile. Sulfur use is minimal and only when necessary, to respect the purity of each vintage and varietal.
