Santenay 1er Cru Blanc Grand Clos Rousseau 2023
Vineyard
The Santenay 1er Cru Blanc Grand Clos Rousseau 2023 originates from historic plots located in the southern part of Côte de Beaune. Here, the Chardonnay vines grow on well-drained clay-limestone soils protected by dry stone walls (murgers) and benefit from perfect morning sun exposure. The average vine age, between 25 and 50 years, ensures depth and concentration.
Winemaking
The harvest is done strictly by hand to preserve grape quality. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 12-15 days, followed by 10 months of barrel aging to enhance complexity while retaining freshness and minerality. No filtration or fining is carried out before bottling to respect the wine’s authenticity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright pale gold color. The nose reveals elegant hints of white flowers, citrus, almond and light sweet spices. On the palate, it is broad and silky, supported by a lively mineral freshness and a long, refined finish. Serve at 10-13°C with shellfish, sauced fish or delicate white meats.
