La Piagne 2023: Vallée d’Aoste D.O.C. Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle
Vineyard philosophy and grape varieties
La Piagne 2023 comes from vineyards located at 1,100 meters altitude, where the native grape Prié Blanc piede franco grows in unique conditions of rocky alpine terrain and climate. Cultivation at this elevation requires special care, respectful of the territory and terroir characteristics. The vineyard philosophy focuses on preserving the purity and identity of this extraordinary grape, keeping alive the alpine winemaking tradition.
Winery approach and vinification
The vinification of La Piagne 2023 includes a cold skin maceration followed by traditional stainless steel fermentation at controlled temperatures, ensuring freshness and aromatic integrity. Aging lasts 24 months, with 60% matured in untoasted barriques and 40% in steel tanks, achieving a perfect balance between structure and freshness.
Tasting notes
Visually, it shows a clear color typical of the Prié Blanc grape. On the nose, it offers vanilla and floral scents that gently caress the olfactory senses. On the palate, it is fresh, sapid, and structured, delivering a pleasant complexity that well reflects the alpine terroir.

Cave Mont Blanc: The Winery at the Foot of Mont Blanc
History
Founded in 1983 from the ashes of the “Association des Viticulteurs,” established thanks to the commitment of Father Don Bougeat and the collaboration of local vignerons, Cave Mont Blanc represents the revival of winemaking in the Aosta Valley at the foot of Mont Blanc. This alpine reality has succeeded in restoring once-abandoned vineyards, strengthening the centuries-old tradition of alpine villages and enhancing a unique territory made of rock, pure waters, and winter frost.
Vineyard Philosophy
The native grape variety, grown between 900 and 1,200 meters altitude on mountain terraces, thrives in heroic conditions requiring deep dedication and full respect for the morphology of the land. Cave Mont Blanc’s vineyard philosophy is based on valuing the alpine terroir, where man and nature coexist in symbiosis, highlighting aromas, nuances, and flavors that tell the poetry and identity of this land.
Winery Approach
Equipped with a technologically advanced facility, the Morgex winery produces about 140,000 bottles annually thanks to the work of about 80 members. The winery’s approach aims to preserve the integrity and uniqueness of the wine through careful vinification techniques that maintain the grape’s aromas and characteristics intact. The balance between tradition and innovation allows the wines to express the culture, tenacity, and elegance of the Aosta Valley mountains.
