Riama 2022 – Il Vecchio Poggio
A tribute to Lecinaro, an ancient and rare grape
In the vineyard: the strength of Lecinaro
Riama 2022 comes from Lecinaro grapes, a native variety from Ciociaria, carefully grown at Il Vecchio Poggio. This wine reveals the true spirit of the land through respectful farming and selective hand harvesting. The vines, rooted in calcareous and clay soils, thrive in a biodiverse environment where mild climate and sunlight ensure balanced ripening.
In the cellar: natural fermentation and gentle aging
Lecinaro grapes are destemmed and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts to highlight the grape’s unique identity. The maceration is gentle and controlled, followed by aging in stainless steel tanks that preserve freshness and purity. Riama 2022 is neither filtered nor fined, keeping all its natural energy and authenticity.
Tasting notes
Bright ruby red color with lively reflections.
On the nose it opens with scents of red berries, aromatic herbs, and light spicy notes.
On the palate it is fresh, soft and harmonious, with elegant tannins and a savory, persistent finish.

Il Vecchio Poggio
Living wines from the limestone hills of Ciociaria
Nestled in the rugged limestone hills of Ciociaria, central Italy’s hidden gem, Il Vecchio Poggio is an independent, family-run winery committed to natural farming and honest winemaking. The land here is tough, rich in stone and silence, and the vineyard is treated with respect — never forced, always understood. The wines that result are mineral, vibrant, and full of character, mirroring the raw beauty of the land.
In the cellar, choices are deliberate: spontaneous fermentations, no additives, and aging in steel, fiberglass, or Tava amphorae. Every wine matures in its own time, with no rush. Each bottle is an authentic expression of this poetic and austere territory. Il Vecchio Poggio doesn’t chase trends — it creates identity in liquid form.
In the cellar: spontaneity, patience, and truth
The cellar work echoes the values of the vineyard: no manipulation, no shortcuts. Fermentations occur spontaneously, without additives or technological interference, allowing each vintage to express itself freely. Wines are vinified in steel, concrete, or fiberglass tanks, and aged slowly according to their natural rhythms. No filtering or fining is applied, and sulfur is used only in minimal quantities, if at all. The resulting wines are alive and authentic, with a distinctly Tuscan voice — sincere, rustic, yet always elegant.
