Poggio Pastene 2015: the pinnacle of Corvagialla, a cru of depth and longevity
Poggio Pastene 2015 is the flagship wine of Corvagialla, a single-vineyard cru harvested from less than half a hectare and produced only in the finest vintages. This pure Sangiovese is a celebration of place, patience and precision. Structured and elegant, it offers a unique expression of the volcanic soils and the artisanal winemaking that define this small yet ambitious estate. A wine for grand occasions, built to evolve, and designed to pair with rich, slow-cooked dishes.
Vineyard philosophy and cellar approach
The Poggio Pastene vineyard lies on a privileged slope, with ideal sun exposure and deep volcanic soils that give the wine its minerality and backbone. The vines are farmed with low intervention and deep respect for the natural balance of the ecosystem. In the cellar, the wine follows a long, deliberate path: spontaneous fermentation, then 24 months in barrique followed by 24 more months in bottle before release. Time becomes the main ingredient, allowing the Sangiovese to express finesse, structure and age-worthy elegance.
Tasting notes
Colour: deep garnet red with evolving orangey hues at the rim.
Nose: layered and complex, revealing notes of sour cherry in spirit, sweet tobacco, leather, licorice and balsamic undertones.
Palate: full-bodied and enveloping, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, mineral finish where ripe fruit and spice re-emerge with persistence.
Food pairings
Poggio Pastene 2015 is meant for slow dining and thoughtful pairings. Ideal with game meats, braised dishes, stews, and slow-cooked ragù. It also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses and blue-veined varieties. A meditative red, perfect for special occasions or long aging in the cellar.

Corvagialla: agricultural freedom and living wines from Alta Tuscia
Corvagialla is a small agricultural and wine estate located in Castiglione in Teverina, in the heart of northern Lazio’s Alta Tuscia. Here, not far from the Umbrian border, Tommaso Gallinari has created a rural project that is first and foremost a way of life. Corvagialla is a place to live and farm naturally, without forcing rhythms, in deep connection with landscape and time. Wine here is not a product, but an agricultural act—free, spontaneous, and tied to its soil.
Vineyard philosophy and winemaking approach
The vineyards grow on volcanic, tufaceous soils at around 450 meters above sea level. Farming is manual, with no chemical treatments, herbicides, or irrigation. Local varieties like Procanico, Malvasia, Verdello, and Ciliegiolo are grown alongside vegetables, fruit trees, olive groves, bees, and forest. Biodiversity is part of the project’s core, as is a vision of low-impact, respectful agriculture.
In the cellar, the process remains artisanal: spontaneous fermentation, no clarification or filtration, and zero additives. Wine matures in neutral materials such as concrete or fiberglass, preserving the grape’s integrity. Each wine is unique, shaped by the vintage, the parcel, and the hands behind it.
Style and identity
Corvagialla’s wines are vibrant, pure, and unconstrained. The whites—often with light maceration—are floral, saline, and vertical. The reds are lean, juicy, and bright. Their beauty lies in their sincerity and coherence with place. Corvagialla does not follow external trends, but builds itself slowly and thoughtfully, in rhythm with nature.
