Val di Sole – Pnoi 2022
An elegant and historic rosé
Pnoi 2022 is a rosé wine that combines elegance and depth, reviving the 19th-century technique of Nebbiolo rosé vinification in Piemonte. Subtle yet complex, this wine represents a true expression of its terroir, with oxidative-evolutionary notes and a light residual sugar that enhances structure and persistence.
Vineyard origin and production philosophy
The grapes for Pnoi 2022 were hand-harvested on September 20 and carefully placed in small 15 kg crates to preserve their integrity and freshness. ValdiSole applies natural vineyard practices, avoiding synthetic chemicals and respecting the vine’s biological cycle, highlighting the unique characteristics of Nebbiolo grown in the calcareous and clay-rich soils of the region.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are softly pressed without maceration, ensuring an elegant and luminous rosé. Aging occurs for 9 months in third-use oak barriques, providing aromatic complexity, balance, and refined oxidative notes. Fermentation is spontaneous, relying on indigenous yeasts, without chemical intervention. Pnoi 2022 is bottled with 30 mg/L sulfur dioxide, unfiltered, preserving authenticity and integrity.
Tasting profile
In the glass, Pnoi 2022 shows a delicate, bright pink hue. The nose reveals subtle oxidative notes, ripe red fruit, and elegant aromatic complexity. On the palate, it is harmonious, elegant, and soft, with a light residual sweetness perfectly balanced by freshness and sapidity, offering a long, complex finish.
Food pairings
Pnoi 2022 pairs wonderfully with shellfish, baked fish, elaborated white meats, delicate cured meats, and soft cheeses. Its balance between freshness, slight sweetness, and complexity also makes it ideal as a refined aperitif or for gourmet tasting experiences.

ValdiSole Winery
History
Founded in 2015 on the Roero hills in Corneliano d’Alba, in the heart of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, ValdiSole Winery is located in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The winery began with a small abandoned Nebbiolo vineyard purchased online and has gradually expanded with both young and old vines. All vineyards are situated in the DOCG Roero area, primarily in the Valdistefano denomination, ensuring high-quality grapes and a strong connection to the territory.
Philosophy
ValdiSole follows strict natural practices, without synthetic chemicals or enological forcing. The winery’s philosophy emphasizes authenticity and essentiality, using only the grape as the core ingredient. Wines are produced in a style that blends regional tradition with innovative techniques adapted from other parts of the world, resulting in distinctive aromas, colors, and profiles.
Wine Characteristics
ValdiSole wines are notable for their intensity and complexity, with colors and aromas that can be unconventional. The winery places special focus on orange wines, produced from white grapes fermented with skin contact. This traditional method, lasting from a few days to several months, imparts amber color, structure, aromatic complexity, and enhanced longevity to the wine.
Production and Methods
Grapes used for orange wines and other ValdiSole labels are carefully selected from minimally treated vineyards. Skin contact maceration and aging in selected vessels (stainless steel, cement, or clay amphorae) ensure wines that are intense, long-lasting, and faithful to both nature and terroir.
Vision
ValdiSole represents a contemporary and visionary approach to winemaking in Roero. The winery combines tradition, sustainability, and experimentation, producing wines that express the territory, the grape, and the company’s philosophy, delivering an authentic and distinctive experience to wine enthusiasts.
