Mara Pinot Noir 2021 – Bodega Mara
Patagonian elegance in its purest form
A refined Pinot Noir, vibrant and true to its origin
Vineyard philosophy
Mara 2021 is crafted in the heart of the Alto Valle del Río Negro, Northern Patagonia, from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The cool climate, sharp diurnal range, and sandy soils with excellent drainage foster a slow, even ripening. The vineyard is managed sustainably and respectfully, with no chemical weeding and minimal intervention. Manual harvesting ensures only the finest, most aromatic grapes are selected.
Cellar approach
The winemaking is minimalist: spontaneous fermentation in raw concrete tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by aging for 12 months in used French oak barrels (second and third use). The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, preserving its aromatic purity and varietal finesse.
Tasting notes
Color: bright ruby red with brilliant clarity.
Nose: elegant and delicate, offering notes of red cherry, ripe raspberry, dried rose petals, and a gentle hint of white pepper.
Palate: fresh and smooth, with silky tannins, natural balance, and a clean, slightly mineral finish.
Food pairings
Mara 2021 pairs beautifully with elegant dishes like duck in sweet-and-sour sauce, herb-crusted pork fillets, mushroom risotto, or semi-aged cheeses. Slightly chilled, it also complements vegetarian dishes such as beetroot tart or vegetable lasagna.

Bodega Mara
The artisanal soul of Argentine Patagonia
Wines of altitude, wind and purity
A young but symbolic story
Founded in the early 2000s, Bodega Mara was born in the heart of Patagonia, in the Alto Valle del Río Negro region. In this extreme land, swept by constant winds and marked by sharp thermal shifts, Mara has established itself with a clear vision: to create authentic, light, site-driven wines that speak more of their place than of the winemaker.
Named after the founder’s daughter, the winery is rooted in a personal, intimate philosophy. In just a few years, Mara has become a benchmark for the new generation of Patagonian producers, with a limited but carefully crafted output.
Vineyard philosophy
Bodega Mara’s vineyards lie on stony and sandy soils, between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. The dry climate, strong sunlight, and cool winds provide ideal conditions for natural viticulture without invasive treatments. Varieties such as Pinot Noir, Malbec, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Riesling are farmed with regenerative practices that preserve biodiversity and soil vitality.
Yields are kept low to enhance natural concentration and acidity. All harvesting is done manually, ensuring early selection in the vineyard.
Approach in the cellar
Winemaking at Mara is guided by non-interventionist principles. Fermentations are spontaneous, without selected yeasts, and take place in raw concrete vats or small foudres. Reds see short, gentle macerations; whites are often aged on fine lees to gain texture while maintaining freshness.
No fining or heavy filtration is used. The result: each wine reflects the vintage and the plot, with a clean, elegant, and restrained style. Oak, when present, is neutral and never dominant.
A sincere Patagonian identity
Bodega Mara is known for crafting delicate, mineral-driven, tension-filled wines that express the soul of modern Patagonia. Highlights include the aromatic Pinot Noir “Viento Sur”, a saline, elegant Chardonnay, and a fresh, restrained Malbec—a far cry from overripe stereotypes.
At its core, Mara is about truth, craftsmanship, and place. Each bottle is a quiet story of wind, silence, and land.
