The history of the Eglise Clinet dates back to the early 19th century, and has been led by Denis Durantou since 1983.
At the time, Monsieur Mauleon-Rouchut, an ancestor of Denis, had managed to merge the family plots of the Clos dell’Eglise with those of Chateau Clinet, which previously belonged to the Constant family, giving life to the company as we know it today.
The estate can count on 4 hectares and even 75-year-old vineyards, from which the Chateau produces very fine wines that rank at the top of the Pomerol AOC quality, like other very important names, such as Chateau Petrus.
The approach to viticulture is extremely natural, no systemic chemical products are used and human intervention is limited. The harvest is manual with meticulous selection of suitable bunches.
In the cellar, vinification takes place in steel tanks while aging in non-first passage oak barrels.
Production is very limited, amounting to just under 10,000 bottles per year.
Denis’ wines are rich and enveloping, a pure expression of an astonishing terroir.
