KLEINER REVOLUZZER Riesling: Wine Description
Wine History
The KLEINER REVOLUZZER Riesling is Bibo Runge’s entry-level wine but of exceptional quality. Known as the little brother of the famous REVOLUZZER, it is named after the revolutionary Adam von Itzstein, who fought for democracy over 180 years ago in the Oestrich-Winkel area. This wine embodies a legacy of courage and independence, telling a story of passion and commitment.
Vineyard Philosophy
The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards in the prestigious Hallgarten sites, hand-harvested to ensure only the best bunches are used. Respect for the land and nature is fundamental throughout cultivation, following Bibo Runge’s sustainable philosophy that values long timeframes and natural processes to highlight the unique character of Riesling.
Winemaking Approach
In the winery, the KLEINER REVOLUZZER undergoes careful vinification. After long maceration to extract rich flavors, grapes are gently pressed in a traditional French basket press. Fermentation takes place in double-stave oak barrels for at least 10 months, creating a complex structure and refined aromatic profile balanced between freshness and depth.

Bibo Runge: The History of the Winery
Bibo Runge is a historic winery located in Oestrich-Winkel, on the banks of the Rhine River, in one of Germany’s most prestigious wine regions. Here, the Runge family has carried on the winemaking tradition for generations, with a deep respect for nature and the land. Their goal is simple yet ambitious: to create high-quality, authentic wines that express the unique character of the region. From the very beginning, Bibo Runge’s philosophy has been based on valuing slowness and patience, essential elements for producing elegant and long-lived wines.
Vineyard Philosophy
For Bibo Runge, wine is a natural product and every vintage begins with a fundamental question: “What does a good wine need?” The answer is always the same: “Good wine needs time.” This principle guides all vineyard practices, where grapes are hand-picked to select only the best clusters. The winery applies sustainable farming methods, certified by FAIR’N GREEN since 2021, committed to minimizing environmental impact and promoting biodiversity. With a strong focus on sustainability, Bibo Runge is already among the wineries with the lowest CO2 footprint in Germany and actively works to introduce a nationwide bottle deposit system.
Winemaking Approach
Bibo Runge’s winemaking process is based on a combination of long maceration, gentle pressing, and slow aging in wooden barrels. After harvest, grapes undergo extended maceration to extract maximum aromatic substances, followed by gentle pressing using a basket or Champagne press. Fermentation occurs exclusively with natural yeasts to allow the most natural aging possible. This approach enables the wines to develop intense aromas and complexity, typical of products where time and patience are fundamental. For Bibo Runge, the path to excellent wine is found through the discovery of slowness, a value reflected in every production phase and guaranteeing a unique tasting experience.
