Imperfetto 2020 – Imperiale
The handcrafted red that celebrates irregularity
In the vineyard: imperfection as a form of truth
Imperfetto is born from the acceptance of the unexpected, instinct, and the will to express a raw, unfiltered Bolgheri. The grapes come from plots that show less “classic” traits: sandier soils, fresher exposures, and uneven ripening. Vineyard work is done entirely by hand, prioritizing observation over intervention. The 2020 vintage brought strong thermal shifts and erratic rainfall, enriching the wine with tension and nuance.
In the cellar: free fermentation, no makeup
The vinification of Imperfetto follows a non-interventionist philosophy, where each small fermentation is allowed to evolve naturally. Fermentation is spontaneous, with no adjustments to acidity, color, or aroma. Each lot is aged separately in used barriques for about 12 months, then blended and settled in concrete tanks to reach harmony. The result is a wine that’s never the same twice — never perfect, always alive.
Colour: opaque ruby red with subtle brick tones.
Nose: notes of dried plum, tobacco leaf, sweet spices, and earthy hints.
Palate: textured and layered, with lively yet integrated tannins and a long, balsamic finish.

Imperiale – Bolgheri
A project rooted in territory and shaped by time
Tuscan roots, contemporary vision
In the heart of the Bolgheri appellation, Imperiale is a young winery deeply tied to the agricultural and scenic traditions of the Tuscan coast. Located in one of the most prestigious viticultural zones, surrounded by orderly rows of vines, marine breezes, and the intense sunlight reflected off the sea, this estate was born with a clear mission: to craft wines that speak the language of the land, without shortcuts or forced interventions—just time, hard work, and deep respect. Here, nature sets the rhythm, and technique follows its lead.
Vineyard work: detail, biodiversity, and marine soils
The vineyards stretch between 80 and 120 meters above sea level, on sandy, gravelly soils of marine origin, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Farming is meticulous, artisanal, and entirely manual. Each vine is monitored throughout the year, from pruning to harvest. The approach is sustainable, in constant dialogue with the surrounding biodiversity: no herbicides, only natural fertilization, controlled irrigation, and minimal intervention. The goal is to grow healthy, concentrated grapes full of territorial character.
The winery: precision, balance, and authenticity
In the cellar, Imperiale opts for restraint and harmony. Every step—from selection to vinification—is handled with care. Fermentations take place in stainless steel with temperature control to preserve aromatic freshness. Aging occurs in French oak barriques, carefully selected each vintage to support, not dominate the wine. The result is a range of structured yet graceful wines, elegant but never fragile, reflecting the Bolgheri climate and aging beautifully over time
