DESERTEUR Sparkling Riesling: Sparkling Pleasure Without Alcohol
A Class of Its Own
DESERTEUR Sparkling Riesling by Bibo Runge is an alcohol-free sparkling wine that embodies carefree, modern enjoyment. Alcohol-free wines are on trend, and our Riesling has already appeared on TV, proving the quality and originality of this project.
100% Riesling from the Rhine
Made exclusively from carefully selected Riesling from our Oestrich-Winkel vineyards, this sparkling wine was developed with Markus Bonsels, one of the leading experts in alcohol-free wines. Thanks to this precise approach, DESERTEUR Sparkling Riesling delivers an authentic bouquet and refreshing liveliness.
Awards and Recognition
In December 2023, this sparkling Riesling was named absolute test winner by the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The jury’s words were clear: “I must admit, I’ve had worse sparkling wine with alcohol from the Rheingau. But this one is really fun. I’d say someone who only occasionally has a glass of bubbly at the hairdresser wouldn’t even notice it’s alcohol-free.”
Taste and Pairing
DESERTEUR Sparkling Riesling brings plenty of joy to the glass: it’s intense, lively, and aromatic — just as you’d expect from Bibo Runge. Perfect for toasts, aperitifs, and celebrations, ideal for those who want lightness without giving up taste.

Bibo Runge: The History of the Winery
Bibo Runge is a historic winery located in Oestrich-Winkel, on the banks of the Rhine River, in one of Germany’s most prestigious wine regions. Here, the Runge family has carried on the winemaking tradition for generations, with a deep respect for nature and the land. Their goal is simple yet ambitious: to create high-quality, authentic wines that express the unique character of the region. From the very beginning, Bibo Runge’s philosophy has been based on valuing slowness and patience, essential elements for producing elegant and long-lived wines.
Vineyard Philosophy
For Bibo Runge, wine is a natural product and every vintage begins with a fundamental question: “What does a good wine need?” The answer is always the same: “Good wine needs time.” This principle guides all vineyard practices, where grapes are hand-picked to select only the best clusters. The winery applies sustainable farming methods, certified by FAIR’N GREEN since 2021, committed to minimizing environmental impact and promoting biodiversity. With a strong focus on sustainability, Bibo Runge is already among the wineries with the lowest CO2 footprint in Germany and actively works to introduce a nationwide bottle deposit system.
Winemaking Approach
Bibo Runge’s winemaking process is based on a combination of long maceration, gentle pressing, and slow aging in wooden barrels. After harvest, grapes undergo extended maceration to extract maximum aromatic substances, followed by gentle pressing using a basket or Champagne press. Fermentation occurs exclusively with natural yeasts to allow the most natural aging possible. This approach enables the wines to develop intense aromas and complexity, typical of products where time and patience are fundamental. For Bibo Runge, the path to excellent wine is found through the discovery of slowness, a value reflected in every production phase and guaranteeing a unique tasting experience.
