Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 – Méo-Camuzet
Power and structure from one of Burgundy’s most iconic crus
Clos de Vougeot is a mythical name in Burgundy’s landscape. A walled vineyard, fragmented among many producers, yet capable of vastly different interpretations. Méo-Camuzet owns a small plot in the upper part of the clos, near the château, where the soil is stonier and better drained. The resulting wine is majestic, structured, and deep, blending the noble austerity of the Grand Cru with modern finesse and clarity.
Vineyard philosophy: precision in a legendary parcel
The vineyard is farmed with sustainable and respectful practices, without formal certification but with high standards. Méo-Camuzet’s plot sits on a gentle slope, with optimal exposure and limestone-clay soil rich in gravel. All vineyard work is manual: light tilling, precise pruning, and meticulous grape selection. The goal is to bring only healthy, ripe, and intact grapes to the cellar — a true expression of place.
In the cellar: depth without excess
Vinification is based on spontaneous fermentation, gentle maceration, and a carefully managed use of new oak, around 70–80% for this Grand Cru. Ageing lasts about 18 months in barriques, without fining or filtration, allowing the wine to evolve naturally. Structure is bold but never heavy — showing tightly knit energy and restrained finesse.
Tasting notes
Color: deep ruby, dense yet vibrant.
Nose: initially restrained, then opens to black fruits, forest floor, bark, and subtle spice.
Palate: full-bodied, firm but polished tannins, long finish, savory and spiced aftertaste.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet
The soul of Vosne-Romanée, between tradition and precision
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of the most iconic and refined estates in Burgundy. The domaine’s history is deeply linked to the Camuzet family and the legacy of Henri Jayer, a legendary figure in modern winemaking. Today, under the direction of Jean-Nicolas Méo, the estate combines Burgundian heritage with contemporary precision, always rooted in the vineyard.
Vineyard philosophy: balance and respect
The domaine covers about 17 hectares, including prestigious plots such as Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux, Corton, and numerous Premier Cru and Village vineyards across Vosne, Nuits, and Marsannay. The viticulture is sustainable, with no formal certifications but a strong pragmatic and non-intrusive approach.
Vineyard work is gentle and adapted to each plot: light soil tilling, manual harvesting with strict selection, and minimal use of synthetic treatments. The focus is not on the aesthetics of organics but on true terroir expression.
Winemaking: elegance without compromise
The cellar at Méo-Camuzet is discreet, designed to enhance purity and structure. Fermentations are spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts, and macerations are gentle, respecting the fruit’s integrity.
New oak use is balanced, from 30% to 80% depending on the cuvée, and chosen for finesse and integration. No fining or filtration is applied. The wines are aged on fine lees for 15 to 20 months, gaining depth and definition over time.
Méo-Camuzet wines are refined, tactile, and age-worthy. They don’t chase power, but rather precision, aromatic finesse, and mineral tension, offering some of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Burgundy.
