The Riviere family has been present in Saint Emilion since 1875, and purchased the Chateau Clos des Menuts in the 1950s, quickly bringing it, starting from a single hectare of vineyards, to holding 25 hectares in total.
The Chateau dates back to at least 1538, the year in which a writing was found regarding the sale of wine by the barrel by de Freres Mineurs of the Franciscan order.
The cellars available in the castle are incredible, dating back to the medieval age and with a constant temperature of 12°.
Since 2007 the company can boast collaboration with Stéphane Derenoncourt, considered one of the best oenologists in France. The approach to viticulture is natural, rejecting any form of systemic chemistry, while in the cellar the winemaking takes place in a traditional way.
The Clos des Menuts Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classè is the company’s flagship, also with a truly astonishing quality-price ratio
