Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2000 – Domaine Georges Roumier
Depth, balance and classic style from a mature, harmonious vintage
Georges Roumier’s Bonnes-Mares 2000 showcases the full potential of this legendary Grand Cru in a vintage that combines ripeness, freshness, and finesse. This wine is a masterclass in balance, delivering complexity and elegance with an already integrated and expressive character.
Winemaking approach and philosophy
Vinified with Roumier’s customary precision, this wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, partial destemming, and long maceration. It is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with approximately 25% new oak, and bottled unfiltered and unfined to preserve its purity.
This Grand Cru is made from 100% Pinot Noir, cultivated under sustainable farming practices.
Tasting notes
Colour
Deep garnet red with brick-toned rims showing signs of evolution.
Nose
Complex and layered aromas of cherry liqueur, dried forest berries, tobacco leaf, alongside hints of leather, sweet spices, undergrowth, and licorice. Balsamic and mineral nuances emerge with air.

Domaine Georges Roumier
A Chambolle-Musigny icon, where precision meets timeless elegance
Domaine Georges Roumier is one of Burgundy’s legendary names, based in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits. Established in 1924, the domaine has built a reputation for crafting Pinot Noir of unmatched finesse, purity, and aging potential. Since the 1980s, the estate has been led by Christophe Roumier, who continues the legacy with a classical, terroir-driven style that has become a global benchmark for elegance and balance.
Vineyard philosophy
Roumier farms his vineyards with great ecological sensitivity, using no formal certifications but strict low-intervention practices. Treatments are kept minimal, yields are carefully managed, and many parcels boast old vines. All work is done by hand to preserve each climat’s identity and ensure grapes are picked at optimal ripeness.
Winemaking style
In the cellar, vinification is traditional, with partial or full destemming depending on the vintage, spontaneous fermentation, and long aging in French oak barrels. New wood is used sparingly (15–30%), allowing the wine’s natural expression to shine. Each cru is vinified separately and no fining or filtration is applied, ensuring purity and texture.
The domaine’s identity
Roumier is known for capturing the pure essence of Chambolle-Musigny: silky, floral, precise Pinot Noirs with fine structure and a long, mineral finish. This signature runs consistently across the range—from the village cuvée to iconic Grand Crus like Bonnes-Mares and the elusive Musigny.
