Atlantis 2023 – Estate Argyros
Philosophy and Origin
Atlantis 2023 is the young and vibrant line from Estate Argyros, crafted to express the fresh and lively spirit of Santorini in an approachable style. The grapes come from selected vineyards across the island, planted in unique volcanic soils that impart the wine’s signature minerality and crisp salinity. Many of these vines are century-old and ungrafted, cultivated in the traditional basket shape (kouloura) that protects the clusters from strong winds and intense sun.
Vinification
Harvested by hand in the last ten days of August to preserve natural acidity and freshness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to highlight the primary aromas of Assyrtiko (main grape), blended with small amounts of Aidani and Athiri for added complexity. The wine matures for a few weeks on fine lees, retaining its youthful, zesty character and distinct maritime notes.

Argyros Winery
The volcanic heritage of Santorini
Founded in 1903, Argyros Winery is one of the oldest and most prestigious producers on Santorini, the symbolic island of volcanic wine in the heart of the Aegean. Located in Episkopi Gonia, the estate is still run by the Argyros family, now in its fourth generation. Here, viticulture is a living heritage that combines tradition and innovation to enhance a unique terroir.
Vineyard philosophy
Argyros’ vineyards cover about 120 hectares, with vines of Assyrtiko, Aidani, and Mavrotragano, many of which are pre-phylloxera and over a century old. Grown on sandy volcanic soils, poor in organic matter but rich in minerals, these vineyards benefit from a dry and windy climate that protects the grapes from diseases and molds. Sustainable management with deliberately low yields ensures healthy, concentrated clusters that fully express Santorini’s identity.
Winemaking approach
At the winery, Argyros works with a light hand to highlight the purity of the fruit and the extraordinary minerality of the terroir. Hand harvesting, low-temperature fermentations with native yeasts, and carefully calibrated aging in steel or wood produce white wines that are tense, long-lived, and profound. Each label is a declaration of love for the island: a union of history, volcanic soil, and the unmistakable energy of the Aegean Sea.
