Andrea Pilar Racchiusole 2023
An elegant and profound mountain Pinot Noir born from a single vineyard located over 400 meters above sea level, expressing with remarkable precision the character of its terroir and the extraordinary ability of the grape variety to reflect its place of origin.
Overview
Andrea Pilar Racchiusole 2023 is a Pinot Noir whose identity is deeply rooted in a unique vineyard situated at more than 400 meters of elevation and characterized by particularly favorable pedoclimatic conditions. It is a wine that prioritizes finesse over power, offering an authentic and terroir-driven interpretation of one of the world’s most complex and fascinating grape varieties. Its aromatic transparency, depth of flavor, and refined tannic texture make it a red wine of remarkable personality and distinction. Every stage of production is designed to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the expressive qualities of the terroir. Racchiusole 2023 stands out for its balance, elegance, and aging potential, representing one of the most original expressions of Pinot Noir in Umbria.
History of the Wine
The name Racchiusole refers to a single vineyard that forms the heart and soul of this project. Andrea Pilar chose to highlight the unique characteristics of this site through a winemaking approach that fully respects its identity. The goal is not to impose a predetermined style, but rather to guide the wine through its natural path of expression, allowing the vineyard and the vintage to tell their own story in the glass. The 2023 growing season provided favorable conditions for producing balanced grapes rich in aromatic nuance. The result is a Pinot Noir that combines precision, depth, and authenticity while always maintaining a strong connection to its place of origin.
Vineyard Philosophy
The grapes come from a single vineyard located at over 400 meters above sea level, planted on sandy soils rich in stones and potassium and characterized by significant slopes. These conditions promote excellent drainage and slow, gradual ripening of the fruit, both essential elements for developing the aromatic complexity of Pinot Noir. Vineyard management is guided by a profound respect for the natural balance of the vines, with the goal of producing healthy, concentrated, and highly expressive grapes. The elevation and wide day-to-night temperature variations help preserve freshness, elegance, and aromatic precision, all of which are defining characteristics of this wine.
Winemaking Approach
Andrea Pilar Racchiusole 2023 is produced exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. Following a particularly gentle destemming process without any crushing, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks without temperature control. Throughout fermentation, frequent yet delicate délestage operations are performed to encourage balanced extraction while respecting the integrity of the fruit. Maceration remains intentionally brief and does not exceed 12 to 13 days, preserving elegance and finesse. Malolactic fermentation takes place in small, previously used wooden vessels, with regular stirring of the fine lees using specially crafted artisanal rods. The wine then matures in third-, fourth-, and fifth-fill barriques for at least 8 to 10 months, developing complexity without overshadowing its varietal character.
Tasting Notes
Color: Translucent and luminous ruby red with remarkable brilliance and visual elegance.
Nose: Refined aromas of raspberry and small red berries intertwine with delicate spring flower notes and subtle balsamic nuances, creating depth and complexity.
Palate: Fine, vibrant, and savory, displaying an extraordinary harmony between freshness, depth, and precision, supported by an elegant texture and a long, persistent finish.
Food Pairings
The finesse and balance of Andrea Pilar Racchiusole 2023 make it exceptionally versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with roasted white meats, premium poultry, duck, and mushroom-based dishes. Its aromatic elegance enhances traditional recipes without overpowering them, while its freshness and precision allow for sophisticated gastronomic pairings. It is equally enjoyable with medium-aged cheeses and dishes featuring aromatic herbs and delicate cooking techniques. Its ability to combine structure and lightness makes it an excellent companion for contemporary cuisine focused on balance and the quality of ingredients.
