Dosset 2025 – Altare
Authentic, fragrant and deeply rooted in the traditions of the Langhe, Dosset 2025 by Altare is a wine that celebrates the noblest simplicity of its territory through a crisp, immediate and irresistibly convivial sip. A highly drinkable red wine that carries forward the legacy of traditional Langhe table wines, reinterpreting them with a contemporary sensibility while remaining completely faithful to its origins.
Wine Overview
Dosset 2025 is one of the most distinctive labels produced by Altare, a wine capable of conveying the most authentic soul of the Langhe through a straightforward and sincere interpretation of its territory. Produced from vineyards located on the San Luigi hill in Dogliani, this red wine reflects a winemaking philosophy focused on freshness, drinkability and expressive purity. The grapes come from approximately forty-year-old vines planted on clay-limestone soils at an elevation of 350 meters above sea level, conditions that encourage balance, aromatic brightness and vibrant structure. The result is a wine that is agile yet far from simple, offering both territorial depth and immediate pleasure. A bottle designed to accompany everyday meals with authenticity and character. A true tribute to the historic wines of the Langhe.
History of the Wine
Dosset by Altare was created as a continuation of the legacy of one of the most representative wines produced for many years by Ferdinando Principiano, a respected figure within the Langhe wine community. That original Dosset became a symbol of high-quality entry-level wines, paying tribute to the traditional red wines of the region through simplicity, authenticity and immediate enjoyment. Nicholas Altare was directly involved in the production of that wine for many years, embracing a philosophy centered on fruit purity and respect for local traditions. Through this new interpretation, the winery carries forward that cultural and winemaking heritage, transforming it into a personal project that preserves the spirit of the original wine. Dosset 2025 therefore serves as a bridge between past and present, safeguarding the memory of the great everyday wines of the Langhe.
Vineyard Philosophy
The grapes used for Dosset originate from the San Luigi hill in Dogliani, an area particularly suited to viticulture thanks to its clay-limestone soils and its elevation of approximately 350 meters above sea level. The vineyards, averaging around forty years of age, naturally produce balanced yields and greater aromatic concentration. Vineyard management is focused on highlighting the identity of both the territory and the fruit itself. The goal is not to create heavily manipulated or overly technical wines, but rather to preserve freshness, authenticity and natural expression. Every decision in the vineyard is aimed at maintaining harmony between ripeness, acidity and aromatic integrity, all essential elements in defining the wine’s direct and genuine personality. It is an approach that honors the territory without compromise.
Winemaking and Aging
The production of Dosset 2025 follows a straightforward philosophy that respects the integrity of the fruit. After harvest, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks with approximately two weeks of skin contact, allowing for the extraction of color, aromas and structure without weighing down the wine’s profile. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is transferred to concrete tanks where it rests for around three months. This aging process helps preserve aromatic purity and fruit vibrancy while allowing the wine’s more rustic character to gradually soften and integrate. With additional bottle aging, the wine continues to refine its personality, gaining further balance and complexity. Produced from selected red grape varieties, Dosset expresses a sincere and immediately recognizable identity.
Tasting Notes
Color: Bright and luminous ruby red with violet highlights that emphasize its freshness and youthful character.
Nose: Fragrant and direct aromas of red berries, fresh cherry, raspberry and delicate floral nuances that recall the traditional wines of the Langhe.
Palate: Light, crisp and remarkably easy-drinking, with exceptional freshness and a juicy, energetic character that makes every sip deeply satisfying.
Food Pairings
Dosset 2025 is an extremely versatile wine, perfectly suited to everyday dining and convivial occasions. It pairs beautifully with cured meat platters, traditional Piedmontese appetizers and rustic dishes inspired by local country cuisine. Its freshness makes it an excellent companion to simple pasta dishes, tomato-based sauces, light risottos and savory pies. It also works very well with white meats, poultry and lightly structured main courses. Thanks to its vibrant and approachable nature, it can even be served slightly chilled during warmer months. A true by-the-glass wine in the noblest sense of the term, capable of bringing people together through its spontaneity and genuine character.
